This paper presents new sets of parameters ("tunes") for the underlying-event model of the event generator. These parameters control the description of multiple-parton interactions (MPI) and colour reconnection in , and are obtained from a fit to minimum-bias data collected by the CMS experiment at , 7, and . The tunes are based on the NNPDF 3.

Collinear (small-angle) and large-angle, as well as soft and hard radiations are investigated in three-jet and  + two-jet events collected in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. The normalized production cross sections are measured as a function of the ratio of transverse momenta of two jets and their angular separation. The measurements in the three-jet and  + two-jet events are based on data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 8 , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.

Results of the Model Unspecific Search in CMS (MUSiC), using proton-proton collision data recorded at the LHC at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 , are presented. The MUSiC analysis searches for anomalies that could be signatures of physics beyond the standard model.

Production cross sections of the Higgs boson are measured in the ( ) decay channel. A data sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 , collected by the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 is used. The signal strength modifier , defined as the ratio of the Higgs boson production rate in the channel to the standard model (SM) expectation, is measured to be at a fixed value of .

The rate for Higgs ( ) bosons production in association with either one ( ) or two ( ) top quarks is measured in final states containing multiple electrons, muons, or tau leptons decaying to hadrons and a neutrino, using proton-proton collisions recorded at a center-of-mass energy of by the CMS experiment. The analyzed data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 137 . The analysis is aimed at events that contain , , or decays and each of the top quark(s) decays either to lepton+jets or all-jet channels.

The present study reports the synthesis, photocatalytic decolorization of reactive black 5 dye and phytotoxicity of graphene quantum dots (GQDs) and iron co-doped TiO photocatalysts via modified sol gel method. GQDs were synthesized by direct pyrolysis of citric acid (CA). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersion spectroscopy (EDS), Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL) were used to determine the physicochemical properties of the best performing photocatalysts.

The main aim of this study was to develop a set of functions that can analyze the genomic data with less time consumption and memory. Epi-gene is presented as a solution to large sequence file handling and computational time problems. It uses less time and less programming skills in order to work with a large number of genomes.

Energy security is a prime focus of policy makers to support agriculture, industrialisation, and transportation. Due to limited conventional energy sources, there is a need to harness non-conventional energy sources. In this regard, one of the proposed approaches is using biomass (e.

The CMS experiment at the LHC has measured the differential cross sections of Z bosons decaying to pairs of leptons, as functions of transverse momentum and rapidity, in lead-lead collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02  TeV. The measured Z boson elliptic azimuthal anisotropy coefficient is compatible with zero, showing that Z bosons do not experience significant final-state interactions in the medium produced in the collision.

Background: In patients of non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTEACS), the global longitudinal peak systolic strain (GLPS) has been used to detect the presence of coronary artery disease (CAD) before left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) is affected. We tried to find out the correlation between the GLPS and severity of CAD in such patients.

Methods: A descriptive correlational study was conducted from March 2018 to January 2020 at Jinnah Hospital Lahore.

The catalysis of disulphide (SS) bonds is the most important characteristic of protein disulphide isomerase (PDI) family. Catalysis occurs in the endoplasmic reticulum, which contains many proteins, most of which are secretory in nature and that have at least one s-s bond. Protein disulphide isomerase A3 (PDIA3) is a member of the PDI family that acts as a chaperone.

Thioredoxin 1 (Trx1) is a ubiquitous protein that is found in organisms ranging from prokaryotes to eukaryotes. Trx1 acts as reductases in redox regulation and protects proteins from oxidative aggregation and inactivation. Trx1 helps the cells to cope with various environmental stresses and inhibits programmed cell death.

External auditory canal, like other epithelialized surfaces is predisposed to malignancies such as Squamous cell carcinomas (SCC), melanomas and adenocarcinomas. In this background, malignancies like adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) are a rare occurrence and need to be thoroughly evaluated both locally and for distant extension. The malignancy needs to be addressed with an aggressive approach surgically with adequate marginal clearance.

Grazing animals act as a bioindicator to study the heavy metal status in the pasture lands because excessive amount of toxic metals in the animal diet either disturb their normal activity or deposit the contaminants into their tissues. The aim of this study was to appraise the chromium status in soil and pasture crops with respect to the nutritional requirement of grazing animals. Three different sites were selected to collect soil, forages, and animal samples from District Jhang.

Heavy metals pollution has thorough worldwide apprehensions due to the instantaneous growth of industries. Farming regions are irrigated mainly with wastewater which contains both municipal and industrial emancipations. Keeping in view the above scenario, a study was designed in which three sites irrigated with ground, canal, and municipal wastewater in the District Jhang were selected to determine the zinc accumulation and its transfer in the soil, plant, and animal food chain.

Introduction: The study aimed to assess resilience and its associated factors in head and neck cancer patients, post-treatment in a low middle income country (LMIC) such as Pakistan.

Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted from November 2019 to May 2020 among head and neck cancer patients aged at least 18 years at the largest private tertiary care hospital, in Karachi, Pakistan. Information regarding their resilience scores was collected through Wagnild and Young's Resilience scale that comprises of 14 items (RS-14).

A 77 year old woman with recent history of vertebroplasty for treatment of multiple osteoporotic lumbar vertebral body compression fractures presented for post-procedure care. A series of radiographs and cross-sectional imaging of the lumbar spine revealed an unexpected finding of cured bone cement within a small lumbar vertebral vein, the inferior vena cava and within the spokes of an inferior vena cava filter which had originally been placed two years earlier. Inferior vena cava filters have become the standard of care to prevent pulmonary embolism in the setting of deep venous thrombosis.

A fiducial cross section for Wγ production in proton-proton collisions is measured at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV in 137  fb^{-1} of data collected using the CMS detector at the LHC. The W→eν and μν decay modes are used in a maximum-likelihood fit to the lepton-photon invariant mass distribution to extract the combined cross section. The measured cross section is compared with theoretical expectations at next-to-leading order in quantum chromodynamics.

Background: Opioids have been proven effective in pain management, but overprescription can lead to addiction and abuse. Although current guidelines regarding opioid prescription for chronic and acute pain are available, they fail to address the use of opioids for pain management in traumatic injury patients who undergo operations. The primary objective of this study was to examine opioid prescribing practices for US adult trauma patients who require surgical management, based on prior history of opioid use, type of surgical practice, and age.
