Agricultural lands with vanadium (V), pose a significant and widespread threat to crop production worldwide. The study was designed to explore the melatonin (ME) treatment in reducing the V-induced phytotoxicity in muskmelon. The muskmelon seedlings were grown hydroponically and subjected to V (40 mg L) stress and exogenously treated with ME (100 μmol L) to mitigate the V-induced toxicity.

A search for exotic decays of the Higgs boson () with a mass of 125 to a pair of light pseudoscalars is performed in final states where one pseudoscalar decays to two quarks and the other to a pair of muons or leptons. A data sample of proton-proton collisions at corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 recorded with the CMS detector is analyzed. No statistically significant excess is observed over the standard model backgrounds.

Purpose: The goal of this study was to assess various recording methods, including combinations of high- versus low-cost microphones, recording interfaces, and smartphones in terms of their ability to produce commonly used time- and spectral-based voice measurements.

Method: Twenty-four vowel samples representing a diversity of voice quality deviations and severities from a wide age range of male and female speakers were played via a head-and-thorax model and recorded using a high-cost, research standard GRAS 40AF (GRAS Sound & Vibration) microphone and amplification system. Additional recordings were made using various combinations of headset microphones (AKG C555 L [AKG Acoustics GmbH], Shure SM35-XLR [Shure Incorporated], AVID AE-36 [AVID Products, Inc.

The delayed presentation of a 15-year-old female with a complex Grade 4 liver injury and a concurrent Grade 1 renal injury sustained from a fall exemplifies the heightened vulnerability of adolescents to blunt hepatic trauma. Unlike typical presentations where symptoms like abdominal pain and internal bleeding appear immediately, this case emphasises the potential for delayed manifestation, posing unique challenges for diagnosis and management. This case, managed at a leading trauma centre, underscores the distinct challenges compared to adult cases due to adolescents' larger space available for the organ and immature livers.

Intellectual disability is a heterogeneous disorder, diagnosed using intelligence quotient (IQ) score criteria. Currently, no specific clinical test is available to diagnose the disease and its subgroups due to inadequate understanding of the pathophysiology. Therefore, current study was designed to explore the molecular mechanisms involved in disease perturbation, and to identify potential biomarkers for disease diagnosis and prognosis.

  • Zuranolone (SAGE-217) is a newly FDA-approved antidepressant for postpartum depression (PPD) and is currently being tested for its effectiveness in treating Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and essential tremors (ET).
  • A review of four clinical trials with 1,357 patients showed that Zuranolone significantly improved depression ratings (HAM-D, MADRS, HAM-A) compared to a placebo on the 15th day of treatment.
  • While Zuranolone was associated with a higher response and remission rate, it also had a significant occurrence of treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs), indicating some safety concerns compared to placebo.

Based on topological descriptors, QSPR analysis is an incredibly helpful statistical method for examining many physical and chemical properties of compounds without demanding costly and time-consuming laboratory tests. Firstly, we discuss and provide research on kidney cancer drugs using topological indices and done partition of the edges of kidney cancer drugs which are based on the degree. Secondly, we examine the attributes of nineteen drugs casodex, eligard, mitoxanrone, rubraca, and zoladex, etc and among others, using linear QSPR model.

Article Synopsis
  • - Oral cancer (OC) is highly prevalent among Pakistani males and ranks second in females, with major risk factors being chewing habits and HPV infections.
  • - A study analyzed 186 oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) samples for high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) types 16 and 18 and examined their relationship with p16 protein expression and chewing habits.
  • - Results showed only 3.8% of cases tested positive for HR-HPV, with no significant links found between HR-HPV, p16 expression, and specific chewing habits, indicating that HR-HPV may be a less relevant risk factor for OSCC in this population.

Introduction: central fever is defined as elevated body temperature without any evidence of infection or drug reaction fever, and currently it has no definitive diagnostic criteria. The current study aims to assess the role of procalcitonin (PCT) in differentiating central fever from fever secondary to infections in patients with neurological insults.

Methods: we conducted a retrospective study of patients admitted with a neurological insult (brain trauma, brain tumors and cerebrovascular accidents) in a tertiary care hospital.

Purpose: Septoplasty and rhinoplasty are common otolaryngological procedures, often combined as septorhinoplasty (SRP), offering aesthetic and functional benefits. These surgeries are believed to potentially risk postoperative infections due to natural bacterial flora in the nares. This study evaluates the effectiveness of prophylactic antibiotics in reducing post-surgical infection complications.

Background And Aims: The rising prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a matter of serious concern worldwide. Hyperuricemia has been observed as an independent risk factor in the development of MetS and each of its individual components in different populations. This study aims to determine the association of hyperuricemia with MetS and its individual components in a Pakistani cohort.

Background: Nitrous oxide (NO) has seen a marked decline in its usage in recent years due to its adverse clinical effects. We audited the practice in our department to evaluate the NO consumption and cost-effectiveness of its supply.

Methodology: Electronic anesthesia records of all patients anesthetized in our main operating rooms in a typical month were reviewed retrospectively, and utilization of NO was noted in addition to the patient demographics, surgical procedure, and specialty.

Background: Hexaploid bread wheat underwent a series of polyploidization events through interspecific hybridizations that conferred adaptive plasticity and resulted in duplication and neofunctionalization of major agronomic genes. The genetic architecture of polyploid wheat not only confers adaptive plasticity but also offers huge genetic diversity. However, the contribution of different gene copies (homeologs) encoded from different subgenomes (A, B, D) at different growth stages remained unexplored.

Most of the applied research on BiFeO(BFO) focuses on magnetoelectric and spintronic applications. This calls for a detailed grasp of multiferroic and conduction properties. BFO thin films with (100) epitaxial growth has been deposited on a LaNiO(LNO) buffered Pt/Ti/SiO/Si(100) substrate using RF magnetron sputtering.

  • Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a serious condition where timely identification of complications is vital for patient outcomes, leading to the development of a risk prediction model for ICU admission.
  • A study used data from the 2019 Nationwide Readmission Database to compare AP patients with and without early ICU admissions, employing LASSO regression to create an ICU acute pancreatitis risk (IAPR) score based on key predictors.
  • The final model, developed from 1513 patients, effectively identified high-risk individuals using factors like hypoxia and acute kidney injury, showing high accuracy for predicting ICU needs within a week of hospital admission.

  • Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) are different forms of the same disease, with similar treatment approaches.
  • Prognostic factors such as undetectable minimal residual disease after treatment can significantly predict better survival outcomes for patients.
  • Treatment decisions depend on disease characteristics, genetic mutations, age, overall health, and the side effects of the treatments, as detailed in the NCCN Guidelines.
