Transmission of tuberculosis (TB) from a donor through renal transplantation is rare; this case involves a 53-year-old Qatari woman who developed TB in her kidney transplant shortly after surgery.
The infection was confirmed through lab tests that identified Mycobacterium tuberculosis and the presence of granulomas, indicating it came from the donor rather than being a reactivation of a latent infection.
Despite early diagnosis, the patient faced severe complications leading to the removal of the transplanted kidney and the need for hemodialysis, with limited prior cases in the literature highlighting similar situations.
