Chocolate spot and heat stress devastatingly impact the production of faba bean, particularly under prevailing climatic changes and rising drastic environmental conditions. Hence, the adaptability of faba bean performance is a decisive objective of plant breeders to ensure its sustainable production. The present study aimed to evaluate the agronomic performance and stability of diverse eleven faba bean genotypes for yield characters, chocolate spot, and heat stress in eight different growing environments.

Eplerenone potentiates the antiproteinuric effects of enalapril in experimental nephrotic syndrome.

Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is a clinical state characterized by massive proteinuria and edema. It is believed that nephrin and podocin are involved in the development of proteinuria. The proteinuria and effects of eplerenone alone or combined with enalapril on nephrin/podocin abundance in rats with NS have not yet been studied.

Two rapid assay procedures based on high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and derivative ultraviolet (UV) spectrophotometry have been developed for the simultaneous determination of amoxycillin and dicloxacillin in two-component capsule formulations. The HPLC determination was carried out on a reversed-phase C8 column with use of a mobile phase consisting of methanol-0.02 mol dm-3 ammonium acetate (pH 5) (50 + 50) at a flow rate of 1.

Randomized trial of cystectomy with or without preoperative radiotherapy for carcinoma of the bilharzial bladder.

A prospective randomized clinical trial was done for 92 patients with carcinoma of the bilharzial bladder who underwent radical cystectomy alone or with 2,000 rad preoperative radiation. The postoperative mortality and morbidity were similar in both groups. Patients were followed for a minimum of 60 months.

Intravesical administration of misonidazole in bladder carcinoma.

Using 11C labelled material, the diffusion of the hypoxic cell sensitizer misonidazole was tested in 19 patients with carcinoma of the bladder following its intravesical administration. Increasing concentration gradients were tested. Evidence was provided that a 20 ml solution containing 200 mmol/l of misonidazole is followed by high concentrations of the drug in the superficial as well as in deep parts of the tumour.

Results of treatment in carcinoma of the bilharzial bladder.

Radical cystectomy with some form of urinary diversion still remains the most commonly used method to treat patients with carcinoma of the bilharzial bladder. The reported 5-year survival rate following this procedure ranges from 27 to 38 per cent. Research efforts currently are directed to 2 areas.
