Introduction: Nepeta species contain a variety of secondary metabolites, including iridoid monoterpenes - nepetalactones and phenolic acids - that are considered the main bioactive constituents. This work represents the first attempt to comparatively explore variations in these two major groups of secondary metabolites within the genus.

Objective: To develop an efficient analytical methodology for simultaneous analysis of nepetalactones and phenolic acids in methanol extracts of selected Nepeta species, and to evaluate its potential application in chemotaxonomic studies.

Fluctuating asymmetry in Robinia pseudoacacia leaves--possible in situ biomarker?

In this study, we analyzed fluctuating asymmetry (FA) of black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) leaf traits as a measure of developmental instability in polluted and unpolluted habitats. We aimed to evaluate the potential of this method as a biomarker and its applicability on widely distributed species under in situ conditions. Leaf samples were taken from seven sites--three categorized as unpolluted (natural protected and rural) and four categorized as polluted covering the broad spectrum of intense pollution (industrial and traffic), from 1,489 individual trees in total.

Ontogeny of flower parts on naturally growing Iris pumila clones: implications for population differentiation and phenotypic plasticity studies.

Previous studies revealed significant phenotypic plasticity, genetic variability and population differentiation of flower morphometric traits on dwarf bearded iris Iris pumila. Also, study of I. pumila flowering phenology revealed significant impact of habitat type as well as population differentiation for flowering time.

Response to environmental heterogeneity caused by human activity was analyzed on Iris pumila reciprocal transplants between native steppe and anthropogenic (planted pine forest) habitats that were monitored during several growing seasons in a protected area of Deliblato Sand. Morphometric traits exhibited significant plastic responses to the environmental variability between native and anthropogenic habitats that differed in light quantity and quality, as well as in some other ecological indices. Significant differentiation between populations occupying those habitats was also detected.

The authors review their results of five year follow up of renal transplantation. They summarised the results of treatment with three immunosuppressive regimens. The variations of arterial and venous hillar blood vessels in human kidneys are numerous and surgical transplant teams have to know them. It is very important during doner-nephrectomy for transplantation. Sometimes, after doner, nephrectomy and kidney cold perfusion with Collins, there is a need for vascular repair of kidney hillar blood vessels, using microvascular surgical technique.

In the period 1987-1988, in our Experimental Surgery Unit a total of 20 dogs were operated (experimental kidney autotransplantation) under the same surgical team.

[Partial heterotopic and total orthotopic transplantation of the liver in dogs].

From 1983 to 1988 on the Department for Experimental Surgery 20 preservations of the liver has been done, with ice cold Euro- Collins and Ringer solutions, either with in situ or with on banch technique after fast expantation. On five dogs standard 55% left hepatectomy has been done and the right side preserved in situ. Partial heterotopic liver transplantation to the right iliac fossa was performed on five dogs.

The interdisciplinary transplant team on Medical faculty--Novi Sad is formed at the beginning of the 1986, and first successfully cadaver binephrectomy was performed in April 1986, and kidneys was transported in Transplant Centre in Belgrade. The first human renal transplantation with cadaveric kidney was performed 20, May 1986, and result was excellent. The first human renal transplantation with living related kidney was performed 27, Sept 1986, and result also was excellent.

Results of 132 PTFE (Gore-Tex) bifurcated graft implantations.

One hundred and thirty-two PTFE bifurcated prosthetic grafts were implanted during the course of a bicentre study conducted at the abovenamed institutions from 1982 to 1986. The study included 118 males and 14 females with an average age of 62 years. One hundred and eighteen patients suffered from aorto-iliac occlusive disease and 14 from abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA).
