  • Blood pressure (BP) measurement is a key part of clinical exams, and this study compares a newer palpatory method to the standard auscultatory method to evaluate its reliability for measuring systolic and diastolic BP.
  • The study involved 400 participants aged 20-60, where one observer used the auscultatory method while a second, blinded observer used the palpatory technique to measure BP.
  • Results showed that the palpatory method had excellent reliability, with very high ICC values (0.997 for SBP and 0.993 for DBP), indicating it can be accurately used for BP assessment with practice.
