We present the results of a search for the b→dℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} flavor-changing neutral-current rare decays B^{+,0}→(η,ω,π^{+,0},ρ^{+,0})e^{+}e^{-} and B^{+,0}→(η,ω,π^{0},ρ^{+})μ^{+}μ^{-} using a 711  fb^{-1} data sample that contains 772×10^{6}  BB[over ¯] events. The data were collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. We find no evidence for signal and set upper limits on branching fractions at the 90% confidence level in the range (3.

Article Synopsis
  • A new technique for treating De Quervain's tenosynovitis involves complete excision of the tendon sheath rather than just an incision, aiming to prevent complications like tendon subluxation.
  • Over a 10-year study of 147 patients, none experienced recurrence or need for reoperation, and most reported good range of motion post-surgery.
  • Compared to traditional methods, this approach eliminates postoperative immobilization and effectively addresses swelling and pain without significant complications.

We measure the tau-to-light-lepton ratio of inclusive B-meson branching fractions R(X_{τ/ℓ})≡B(B→Xτν)/B(B→Xℓν), where ℓ indicates an electron or muon, and thereby test the universality of charged-current weak interactions. We select events that have one fully reconstructed B meson and a charged lepton candidate from 189  fb^{-1} of electron-positron collision data collected with the Belle II detector. We find R(X_{τ/ℓ})=0.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study involved 214 patients with noted hazelnut allergies, assessing their sensitization to specific hazelnut proteins (Cor a 1, Cor a 8, and Cor a 9) and found that those monosensitized to Cor a 8 had more severe allergic reactions compared to those sensitized to Cor a 1 or both proteins.
  • * Results suggest that multiple sensitivities impact the severity of reactions, with patients who are only sensitized to Cor a 8 experiencing more frequent and intense system reactions than those with broader

We present the first comprehensive tests of the universality of the light leptons in the angular distributions of semileptonic B^{0}-meson decays to charged spin-1 charmed mesons. We measure five angular-asymmetry observables as functions of the decay recoil that are sensitive to lepton-universality-violating contributions. We use events where one neutral B is fully reconstructed in ϒ(4S)→BB[over ¯] decays in data corresponding to 189  fb^{-1} integrated luminosity from electron-positron collisions collected with the Belle II detector.

We measure the lifetime of the D_{s}^{+} meson using a data sample of 207  fb^{-1} collected by the Belle II experiment running at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. The lifetime is determined by fitting the decay-time distribution of a sample of 116×10^{3} D_{s}^{+}→ϕπ^{+} decays. Our result is τ_{D_{s}^{+}}=(499.

We report a measurement of the CP-violating parameters C and S in B^{0}→K_{S}^{0}π^{0} decays at Belle II using a sample of 387×10^{6}  BB[over ¯] events recorded in e^{+}e^{-} collisions at a center-of-mass energy corresponding to the ϒ(4S) resonance. These parameters are determined by fitting the proper decay-time distribution of a sample of 415 signal events. We obtain C=-0.

Introduction: Dorsal hand skin flaps have been described in order to avoid digit skin grafting in syndactyly release. Although these skin-graftless techniques present a lower rate of long term complications, they result in unsightly dorsal scarring and worse patient satisfaction. We describe a novel technique using an intermetacarpal palmar flap by performing an anatomic study and clinical application.

Unlabelled: Peripheral nerve injuries are among the most complex conditions facing upper-extremity surgeons. Loss of wrist extension can result in marked limitations, including loss of pinch and grip strength with discoordination of grasp and release. Tendon transfers represent the mainstay of operative treatment and have proven to be an effective method for restoring loss of wrist extension.

Introduction: The transfer of intraplexal and extraplexal nerves for restoration of function in children with traumatic and birth brachial plexus palsies has become well accepted. Little has been written about using the long thoracic nerve (LTN) as a donor in reanimation of the upper extremity. The authors present a case series of nerve transfers using the LTN as a donor in brachial plexus injury.

Introduction: Allergy to Hymenoptera venom (HV) may lead to life-threatening anaphylaxis. Some of the factors influencing the symptom's severity are still undetermined. The aim of this study was to identify the clinical aspects associated with the most severe reactions in a population with HV allergy, by comparing clinical and immunochemical biomarkers between patients with previous local large reactions (LLRs) and systemic reactions (SRs).

Background: Anticonvulsant hypersensitivity syndrome represents a rare but potentially fatal kind of adverse drug reaction. This clinical picture often hampers the flexibility with which alternative anticonvulsants or even other classes of drugs are prescribed in these patients, negatively affecting the efficacy of treatment and the course of the disease. The aim of this study was to analyse a group of six patients with severe cutaneous drug reactions induced by anticonvulsants and to report which alternative antiepileptic drugs and which drugs of other classes were tolerated.

Purpose: The availability of tendon grafts is an important consideration for successful upper extremity reconstructive surgery, including flexor or extensor tendon reconstructions, tendon transfers, and ligament reconstructions. Graft selection is based on availability, expendability, ease of harvest, and length. Given variations in patient height and extremity length, existing average values may provide suboptimal insight into actual tendon lengths available.

Background: The orthopaedic treatment of the patient with cerebral palsy (CP) is complex and must take into account the heterogeneity and natural history of the condition. Although the goals of management are for the most part universal, the specific interventions and outcome measures used to reach these goals are wide ranging. This update serves to summarize some of the recent publications in the field of pediatric orthopaedics that have made important contributions to our understanding and care of the patient with CP.
