The incidence of premature births was more frequently in heart cases, while fetal retardation was similar to that of the control with exception of the group of the patients with acquired and operated heart diseases. Perinatal fetal mortality during birth was similar to the normal cases but higher in fetal retardation as in the general population of the pregnant women.

Functional changes of circulation, such as hypoxia, pressure and volume overload, and conduction disorders, were assessed, with reference being made to the classification of the American Heart Association (AHA). In that context, the patients were repeatedly examined during pregnancy and followed up further through two years after delivery.

Pregnancy associated with chronic nephritis has to be interrupted in the first trimester as the particular conditions of pregnancy predispose to pyelonephritis. Provided pregnancy pyelonephritis is diagnosed and treated early enough the incidence of intrauterine fetal death, premature, birth and perinatal fetal loss will not be higher than the average, but developmental retardation has a slightly higher incidence.

According to the examinations of the authors the administration of Canesten vaginal tablets for treatment of vulvovaginitis caused by blastospores resulted in 81% of the cases in a lasting healing, in cases with an affected anamnesis in 75%. With additional treatments of Canesten solution and cream administration the efficiency was further increased and thus results of 90% or 76%, respectively could be achieved. With sanitation of auto- and heteroinfectious foci the recurrences of fungal infections could be avoided.

Early and late effects of pregnancy on the cardio-vascular system and on the outcome of the pregnancy were studied in 82 women after commissurotomies. According to the clinical and instrumental investigations the burden of pregnancy may only be temporary and might cause no demonstrable damage on case of careful supervision of specialists before, during and after pregnancy and if there is a considerate delivery. Due to the higher number of "small for date babies" the fetal perinatal mortality rate and premature births are higher than in the general population.
