Background: Fully automated digital interventions delivered via smartphone apps have proven efficacious for a wide variety of mental health outcomes. An important aspect is that they are accessible at a low cost, thereby increasing their potential public impact and reducing disparities. However, a major challenge to their successful implementation is the phenomenon of users dropping out early.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAddiction is considered a chronic disorder that requires long-term treatment. Early identification of predictors of outcome may enable better and early adjustment of treatment. Daily fluctuations of craving have been shown to predict substance use within hours, making it a major target for treatment.

Two medications have mainly been worldwide used for OUD (MOUD), buprenorphine and methadone. Recently, however, some reports have highlighted the use of Morphine Sulfate (MS) mainly obtained without a prescription but used as MOUD by opioid users and especially People Who Inject Substances (PWIS).

While robust evidence is advocating for implementing interventions to reduce the harms of illegal substance use, less literature is dedicated to identifying and understanding interventions aiming at reducing the various harms associated with alcohol.
Objectives: This review describes how alcohol harm reduction (AHR) interventions are currently conducted and analyzes the facilitators and barriers identified by the studies on their efficacy.
Introduction: In 2021, among French women who smoked when they knew they were pregnant, 59% still smoked at the end of pregnancy. Support for pregnant women to stop smoking must include a structured organisational perspective. The main objective of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the 5A-QUIT-N organisational intervention on smoking cessation at delivery among pregnant women who smoke during pregnancy.

However, for users of substances that meet diagnostic criteria for substance use disorder (addiction), reducing use or abstaining will be difficult without appropriate addiction treatment. Moreover, this group is the most at risk and the most likely to benefit from reducing use.

Conceptualizing substance use as a dynamic system of causal elements could provide valuable insights into the interaction of craving with other symptoms in the process of relapse. The aim of this study was to improve the understanding of these daily life dynamic inter-relationships by applying dynamic networks analyses to EMA data sets.

Functional inhibition is known to improve treatment outcomes in substance use disorder (SUD), potentially through craving management enabled by underlying cerebral integrity. Whereas treatment is challenged by a multitude of substances that patients often use, no study has yet unraveled if inhibition and related cerebral integrity could prevent relapse from multiples substances, that is, one's primary drug of choice and secondary ones. Individuals with primary alcohol, cannabis, or tobacco use disorders completed intensive Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) coupled with resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) to characterize the extent to which inhibition and cerebral substrates interact with craving and use of primary and any substances.

To tackle this issue, France opened two drug consumption rooms (DCRs) in Paris and Strasbourg in 2016. This study assessed their long-term health benefits, costs and cost-effectiveness.

However, the application of the addiction model to anorexia nervosa remains more controversial. In this commented narrative review, we examine and discuss the addictive features of anorexia nervosa.

By combining neuroimaging with smartphone-based ecological momentary assessment (EMA), we questioned how biomarkers moderate inhibition deficits to predict use. Thus, we aimed to assess white matter integrity interaction with everyday inhibition deficits and related resting-state network connectivity to identify multi-dimensional predictors of substance use.

This stigmatization can have negative consequences on the health of people who inject drugs (PWID) and limit their access to care. Women who inject drugs face greater stigma than men because of gendered social norms and the intersectional effect between gender and drug use identities.

Accordingly, we 1) measured fluctuations within intensively repeated measures of craving and 2) linked fluctuations of craving to connectivity indices within resting-state (rs) brain regions to assess their relation to use among patients undergoing treatment for Alcohol, Tobacco and Cannabis Use Disorders.
Method: Participants -64 individuals with SUD for tobacco, alcohol, or cannabis and 35 healthy controls-completed a week of Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) during which they reported craving intensity and substance use five times daily.
Objectives: This study tests a video intervention to reduce pregnancy smoking stigma among French healthcare students.
Design: The participants were randomly selected to watch online either an experimental video (presenting educational content regarding stigma and contact with pregnant smokers) or a control video (presenting standard educational content about the risks of smoking). The students completed scales assessing stigma, intention to address smoking cessation and self-efficacy to do so, before the intervention (T0, = 252), one week after the intervention (T1, = 187), and one month after the intervention (T2, = 131).
Background: Smoking stigma has been well documented, but little is known regarding its specific features and effects on women. Notably, women face unique social, cultural, and economic challenges that may interact with smoking stigma and impact health outcomes. This review investigates the extent to which smoking women encounter and internalise stigma, while examining the various coping mechanisms they employ to manage these negative experiences.

Background: Stigma of people with substance and non-substance use disorders (SNSUD) is a long-known phenomenon. The aim of this review was to assess the stigmatization, by health professionals, of people with SNSUD, its characteristics and change over time.
Methods: A scoping review of literature reviews was conducted with systematic search of PubMed, Scopus and PsycINFO databases.
Aims: The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of drug consumption rooms (DCRs) in France on injection equipment-sharing, while the secondary aims focused upon their impact on access to hepatitis C virus (HCV) testing and opioid agonist treatment (OAT).
Design: The COhort to identify Structural and INdividual factors associated with drug USe (COSINUS cohort) was a 12-month longitudinal study of 665 people who inject drugs (PWID), conducted in Bordeaux, Marseille, Paris and Strasbourg. We used data from face-to-face interviews at enrolment and at 6-month and 12-month visits.
Objective: Fully automated digital interventions show promise for disseminating evidence-based strategies to manage insomnia complaints. However, an important concept often overlooked concerns the extent to which users adopt the recommendations provided in these programs into their daily lives. Our objectives were evaluating users' adherence to the behavioral recommendations provided by an app, and exploring whether users' perceptions of the app had an impact on their adherence behavior.

This study aims to validate the Pregnant Smoker Stigma Scale - Self-Stigma (P3S-SS) assessing perceived and internalized stigma. Between May 2021 and May 2022, French pregnant smokers recruited online ( = 143) took the P3S-SS and other scales assessing depressive symptoms (EPDS), social inclusion (SIS), dissimulation, dependence (CDS-5), cessation self-efficacy (SEQ), and intention.

These barriers could be overcome by mobile technologies. Our objective was to explore craving centrality across SUD based on the study of symptom interactions in cross-sectional network analyses of DSM-5 SUD diagnostic criteria. We hypothesized the centrality of "Craving" in SUD across substance types.
