A lightweight deep learning method to identify different types of cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women's bodies after breast cancer. Cervical cancer develops from dysplasia or cervical intraepithelial neoplasm (CIN), the early stage of the disease, and is characterized by the aberrant growth of cells in the cervix lining. It is primarily caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection, which spreads through sexual activity.

Neutropenia Induced by Ceftriaxone and Meropenem.

Unlabelled: Neutropenia by non-chemotherapy drugs is an extremely rare idiosyncratic life-threatening drug reaction. Ceftriaxone and meropenem are widely used broad-spectrum antibiotics and are generally safe and well tolerated. The authors present a case of neutropenia induced by ceftriaxone and meropenem in an adult patient.

Adherence to COVID-19 preventive measures among residents in selected townships, Yangon Region, Myanmar: a community-based cross-sectional study.

Background: To fight the current coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, many countries have implemented various mitigation measures to contain the spread of the disease. By engaging with health service providers, the community's participation in adherence to preventive measures is certainly required in the implementation of COVID-19 mitigation strategies. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the level of adherence to COVID-19 preventive measures and its associated factors among the residents, Yangon Region, Myanmar.

Minimally Invasive 980 nm Laser-Assisted Lipolysis and Skin Tightening on Lower Eyelids of Asian Patients.

Objective: The present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of minimally invasive 980 nm laser-assisted lipolysis and skin tightening in lower eyelid blepharoplasty of Asian patients.

Methods: Patients with mild and moderate degree of eyebags underwent 980 nm laser-assisted lipolysis via lower eyelid stab incision between December 2017 and December 2019. Evaluation criteria was reviewed by photographs taken preoperatively and 6 months postoperatively in accordance with guidelines of Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale, the patient's perspective from the questionnaire with the perception of reduction in eyebags size, the average perception of improvement in skin tightening, and the patient overall satisfaction, all with a score of 1 to 5 (5 being the most noticeable and very satisfied) and complications such as dyspigmentation, hematoma, prolonged edema, skin bump and thermal burn were documented as well.

Forecasting the concentration of NO2 using statistical and machine learning methods: A case study in the UAE.

Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is the most active pollutant gas emitted in the industrial era and is highly correlated with human activities. Tracking NO2 emissions and predicting their concentrations represent important steps toward controlling pollution and setting rules to protect people's health indoors, such as in factories, and in outdoor environments. The concentration of NO2 was affected by the COVID-19 lockdown period and decreased because of restrictions on outdoor activities.

Advances in Robot-Assisted Surgery for Facial Bone Contouring Surgery.

Since our team reported the application of robot-assisted surgery in facial contouring surgery in 2020, further clinical trials with large samples have been conducted. This paper will report the interim results of a single-center, large-sample randomized controlled trial of the first robot developed by our team for facial contouring surgery. Meanwhile, this research field will be systematically reviewed and prospected.

Towards a Virtual Fencing System: Training Domestic Sheep Using Audio Stimuli.

Fencing in livestock management is essential for location and movement control yet with conventional methods to require close labour supervision, leading to increased costs and reduced flexibility. Consequently, virtual fencing systems (VF) have recently gained noticeable attention as an effective method for the maintenance and control of restricted areas for animals. Existing systems to control animal movement use audio followed by controversial electric shocks which are prohibited in various countries.

Transfer learning (TL), one of the categories under ML, has received much attention from the research communities in the past few years. Traditional ML algorithms perform under the assumption that a model uses limited data distribution to train and test samples.

A study of nitrogen dioxide (NO) periodicity over the United Arab Emirates using wavelet analysis.

NO and nitric oxide (NO) are the most reactive gases in the atmosphere. The interaction of NO molecules with oxygen, water and other chemicals leads to the formation of acid rain. The presence of NO in the air affects human health and forms a photochemical smog.

Preliminary reports of augmented-reality assisted craniofacial bone fracture reduction.

Background: Zygomaticomaxillary complex fractures involve four fracture ends. It is difficult to fully expose the operative area through a main coronal incision, an intraoral incision, and an eyelid incision. To address the partial visual field loss in craniofacial fracture reduction, we attempted to use an augmented reality (AR) navigation system.

Background: Augmented reality (AR) is a new technology that increases users' perception of the real world. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of augmented reality navigation system in treatment with craniofacial fracture reduction.

Methods: This will be a single-center prospective randomized controlled trial.

Impact of containment measures on community mobility, daily confirmed cases, and mortality in the third wave of COVID-19 epidemic in Myanmar.

In Myanmar, third wave of COVID-19 epidemic began with a surge of confirmed cases in the last week of May 2021. The laboratory-confirmed cases and deaths distinctly increased within 9 weeks. The government and the Ministry of Health adopted containment measures to flatten the peak of the epidemic and to suppress the disease transmission.

Utilization rate and usage patterns of phakic and pseudophakic donor corneas recovered by the Singapore Eye Bank.

Purpose: To compare the utilization rate and usage patterns of pseudophakic and phakic donor corneas recovered by the Singapore Eye Bank.

Methods: Records of local donor corneas recovered by the Singapore Eye Bank from 2012 to 2017 were examined. Corneas that were deemed suitable for clinical use were stratified into phakic and pseudophakic groups.

Optimizing HIV Services for Key Populations in Public-Sector Clinics in Myanmar.

Key populations, ie, female sex workers, men who have sex with men, transgender people, people who inject drugs, and people in prisons and other closed settings, experience stigma, discrimination, and structural barriers when accessing HIV prevention and care. Public health facilities in Myanmar became increasingly involved in HIV service delivery, leading to an urgent need for healthcare workers to provide client-centred, key population-friendly services. Between July 2017-June 2018, the Myanmar Ministry of Health and Sports and National AIDS Programme collaborated with ICAP at Columbia University and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to implement a quasi-experimental, multicomponent intervention including healthcare worker sensitization training with pre- and post- knowledge assessments, healthcare worker and client satisfaction surveys, and structural changes.

Correlations Between Mandible Condylar Structures and External Ear Deformities in Hemifacial Microsomia With Three-Dimensional Analysis.

This study aimed to explore correlations between mandible and ear deformities and quantitative volumetric relations between condylar structures and external ear in hemifacial microsomia. The authors reconstructed three-dimensional craniofacial models from 212 patients with unilateral hemifacial microsomia (the unaffected side as the controls). Patients were evaluated by Pruzansky-Kaban and Marx classification, and divided into 3 age groups (0-6, 7-12, and >12 years of age).

COVID-19 Pandemic Outbreak in the Subcontinent: A Data Driven Analysis.

Human civilization is experiencing a critical situation that presents itself for a new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This virus emerged in late December 2019 in Wuhan city, Hubei, China. The grim fact of COVID-19 is, it is highly contagious in nature, therefore, spreads rapidly all over the world and causes severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

Can nutrition education mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 on dietary quality? Cluster-randomised controlled trial evidence in Myanmar's Central Dry Zone.

We evaluate the immediate impact of a nutrition and gender behaviour change communication on dietary quality in rural communities in Myanmar and assess whether the communication helped mitigate the effect of the COVID-19 crisis on dietary quality. The intervention was designed and implemented as a cluster-randomised controlled trial in which 15 villages received the intervention and 15 control villages did not. The intervention was implemented from June to October 2020.

Integrative Profiling of T790M-Negative EGFR-Mutated NSCLC Reveals Pervasive Lineage Transition and Therapeutic Opportunities.

Purpose: Despite the established role of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in -mutated NSCLC, drug resistance inevitably ensues, with a paucity of treatment options especially in -negative resistance.

Experimental Design: We performed whole-exome and transcriptome analysis of 59 patients with first- and second-generation EGFR TKI-resistant metastatic -mutated NSCLC to characterize and compare molecular alterations mediating resistance in T790M-positive (T790M) and -negative (T790M) disease.

Results: Transcriptomic analysis revealed ubiquitous loss of adenocarcinoma lineage gene expression in T790M tumors, orthogonally validated using multiplex IHC.

Immediate impacts of COVID-19 on female and male farmers in central Myanmar: Phone-based household survey evidence.

This article provides evidence of the immediate impacts of the first months of the COVID-19 crisis on farming communities in central Myanmar using baseline data from January 2020 and follow-up phone survey data from June 2020 with 1,072 women and men. Heterogeneous effects among households are observed. Fifty-one percent of the sample households experienced income loss from various livelihood activities, and landless households were more severely affected by the crisis, mainly because of lost farm and nonfarm employment and negative impacts on rural enterprises.

Camera Trapping to Assess Status and Composition of Mammal Communities in a Biodiversity Hotspot in Myanmar.

Tropical forests comprise a critically impacted habitat, and it is known that altered forests host a lower diversity of mammal communities. In this study, we investigated the mammal communities of two areas in Myanmar with similar environmental conditions but with great differences in habitat degradation and human disturbance. The main goal was to understand the status and composition of these communities in an understudied area like Myanmar at a broad scale.

Aims: LY3023414 is a novel oral phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) dual inhibitor designed for advanced cancers, for which a phase II clinical study was completed in March 2020; however, little is known about its effect on bone modelling/remodelling. In this study, we aimed to explore the function of LY3023414 in bone modelling/remodelling.

Methods: The function of LY3023414 was explored in the context of osteogenesis (bone formation by osteoblasts) and osteoclastogenesis (osteoclast formation and bone resorption).
