Introduction: Efficient intracanal disinfection is required for a successful regenerative endodontic treatment. Thus, this study aimed to identify the silver nanoparticles' (NPs) size (AgNPs) with the highest antibiofilm efficacy when mixed with calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)] to eradicate an in vitro endodontic biofilm.

Methods: The various sizes of AgNPs and mixtures were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to assess the antifungal activity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in combination with calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)) against ().

Methods: AgNPs was mixed with pure Ca(OH) powder in an aqueous base. A standard suspension (1 × 10 bacterial cells/mL) of was prepared in a 96-well plate and incubated on shaker at 37 °C in 100% humidity to allow fungal biofilm formation in infected dentin slices ( = 98).

Introduction: This study aimed to determine the most effective antibiofilm concentration of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) alone or in combination with calcium hydroxide (Ca[OH]) against Fusobacterium nucleatum biofilm.

Methods: The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of AgNPs alone or with Ca(OH) were determined. Dentin slices were sterilized and inoculated with F.

Honey had several healing properties which includes antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Hence, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of two different systems of honey on the healing of experimentally created traumatic oral ulcers in rats. Traumatic ulcers were created on the lower labial mucosa on male rats using 50% acetic acid.

This study assessed the wound healing potential and antimicrobial activity of henna, pomegranate and myrrh extract formulations and their blend in excision, and dead space wound models in rats in comparison to a marketed ointment (gentamycin). The natural extracts were used in ointment formulations alone or in a combination of three extracts at a total concentration of 15% w/w in medications. The percent of wound contraction in case of henna, myrrh, pomegranate, the blend and gentamycin (10 mg/kg) were 85.

Nimesulide (NIM) is an insoluble nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Complexation of drug with methyl β-cyclodextrin was evaluated to improve solubility and dissolution rate of NIM. Complexation was achieved via a coevaporation technique to obtain different drug to polymer molar ratios (1:1, 1:2, and 1:3).

Emulsification/internal gelation has been suggested as an alternative to extrusion/external gelation in the encapsulation of several compounds including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as diclofenac sodium. The objective of the present study was a trial to formulate diclofenac sodium as controlled release microparticles that might be administered once or twice daily. This could be achieved via emulsification/internal gelation technique applying Box-Behnken design to choose these formulae.

Objectives: Cefodizime is a broad spectrum cephalosporin belonging to the third generation agents. In this study, attention has been paid to the preparation, physicochemical characterization and biological evaluation of new Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe3+, Co2+ and Al3+ complexes of cefodizime.

Methods: The stoichiometrics and the mode of bonding of the complexes were deduced from their elemental and metal analysis, electrical conductivity measurements, UV-vis, infrared and Raman spectroscopic investigations.

The present study describes the application of CE to investigate the interaction between a cephalosporin, cefadroxil and different metal ions. This study aims at quantifying the interaction of cefadroxil with Zn(2+), Al(3+), Fe(3+), Cu(2+) and Co(2+) ions using the effective electrophoretic mobility as a parameter for calculation of the reaction association constant (K). For this purpose, the electrophoretic mobilities of cefadroxil at different metal ion concentrations in citrate buffer pH 3.

Semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotics have structures similar to that of penicillins, and both groups of compounds are characterized by similar properties and determined by the same methods. Most antibiotics, including cephalosporins and their decomposition products, contain electron donor groups that can bind naturally occurring metal ions in vivo. Cephalosporin antibiotics exhibit a change in their toxicological properties and biological performance when they were tested as metal complexes.

Sixteen patients were treated for liver cancer (primary and metastatic) by a combination of internal radiation therapy with intra-arterial yttrium 90 microspheres and regional hyperthermia with electromagnetic radiation. Four patients have their liver disease apparently controlled; two had a partial regression of more than 50%; and two had a partial regression of less than 50%. The complications consisted of one case of radiation hepatitis and one of peptic ulcer.

The authors describe a patient with epithelioid sarcoma in whom the presenting lesion was cervical lymph node metastasis. This proved to be a difficult diagnostic problem, until the occult primary tumor was discovered in the ipsilateral hand. A cerebral metastasis became evident early in the course of the disease.

Experimental solid tumors were treated in vivo with external high frequency dielectric heating to observe any heat selectivity between the tumor mass on one hand, and the subcutaneous tissue, muscle, and systemic temperatures on the other. Methylcholantrene-induced sarcoma cells were inoculated into the subcutaneous tissue or muscles of the posterior thigh of isologous Fischer rats. When the tumor mass reached the desired size, dielectric heating with a fixed frequency of 13.

A simple reliable technique for reconstruction of low-lying anterior thoracic wall defects following trauma or excision of neoplasms is illustrated by a case presentation and described. The bipedicle transverse abdominal cutaneo-fascial flap is based on the lateral cutaneous branches of the lower intercostal arteries, which offer an excellent blood supply allowing it to be raised and used even in the presence of radiated tissue. The potentials and contraindications for employing this flap are presented.

During the past two decades 50 patients were operated on for primary aldosteronism. Diagnosis was based on high aldosterone excretion or secretion during a high sodium intake and, more recently, low stimulated plasma renin activity. Computed tomography and adrenal venography with selective adrenal vein catheterization for determination of aldosterone/cortisol ratios were helpful in the distinction between adenoma and bilateral hyperplasia.
