Background: Transgender and gender diverse (TGD) people embody social and health inequalities that disproportionately affect this community more than the cisgender population. Endometriosis is a chronic condition of the reproductive tract that affects 5-10% of cisgender women. A recent systematic review with meta-analysis uncovered a pooled prevalence of 25.

This study builds on a previous publication by our team that focused on comparing evaluation methods for isocyanates. The current research aims at developing, validating, and applying a laboratory generation system designed to replicate real-world conditions for spraying clear coats in autobody shops using hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI)-based products.

A large number of MO structures have been identified in mammalian milk. Mostly described in human milk, the oligosaccharide richness, although less broad, has also been reported for a wide range of mammalian species.

Although the Venezia applicator offers more choice for catheter selection, commercially available catheter and dose optimization algorithms are still missing for complex applicators. Moreover, studies on catheter and dose optimization for IC/IS implants in the treatment of cervical cancer are still limited.

Methods And Materials: A total of 58 patients with a 15 Gy HDR prostate boost were randomized in two arms and two operation room (OR) procedures using: (1) the EMT investigational device, and (2) the Oncentra prostate system (OCP).
Brain models typically focus either on low-level biological detail or on qualitative behavioral effects. In contrast, we present a biologically-plausible spiking-neuron model of associative learning and recognition that accounts for both human behavior and low-level brain activity across the whole task. Based on cognitive theories and insights from machine-learning analyses of M/EEG data, the model proceeds through five processing stages: stimulus encoding, familiarity judgement, associative retrieval, decision making, and motor response.

Several standard methods exist, but significant differences remain regarding the diversity of industrial isocyanate emissions. This study presents a method to establish a baseline comparison of three sampling principles.

Materials/methods: In this single arm, prospective monocentric study, 28 patients with intermediate risk prostate cancer were recruited in an experimental treatment arm of 25 Gy in 5 fractions plus a 15 Gy HDR BB. They were then compared to two historical control groups, treated with either 36 Gy in 12 fractions or 37.
Purpose: Recently, our GPU-based multi-criteria optimization (gMCO) algorithm has been integrated in a graphical user interface (gMCO-GUI) that allows real-time plan navigation through a gMCO-generated set of Pareto-optimal plans for high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy. This work reports on the commissioning of the gMCO algorithm into clinical workflow.
Material And Methods: Our MCO workflow was validated against Oncentra Prostate v.
Smoking status and smoking history remain poorly accounted for as variables that could affect the efficacy of new drugs being tested in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients. As a proof of concept, we used a pre-clinical model of cigarette smoke (CS) exposure to compare the impact of treatment during active CS exposure or during the cessation period on the anti-inflammatory effects IL-1α signaling blockade. Mice were exposed to CS for 2 weeks, followed by a 1-week cessation, then acutely re-exposed for 2 days.

Treatment of the cigarette smoke-associated lung diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), has largely focused on broad-spectrum anti-inflammatory therapies. However, these therapies, such as high-dose inhaled corticosteroids, enhance patient susceptibility to lung infection and exacerbation. Our objective was to assess whether the cationic host defense peptide, human β-defensin 2 (hBD-2), can simultaneously reduce pulmonary inflammation in cigarette smoke-exposed mice while maintaining immune competence during bacterial exacerbation.

Methods And Materials: Twenty HDR brachytherapy prostate cancer patients were retrospectively replanned with the gMCO algorithm.
Since 2014 in The Netherlands, sterilization is no longer required for legal gender affirmation. Access to fertility preservation (FP) options is indispensable to grant equal reproductive rights to this population. This study aims to map existing literature on barriers and enabling factors for trans masculine individuals to access FP in The Netherlands after 2014.

Vaping liquids contained in electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) are mainly composed of propylene glycol and glycerol, to which nicotine and flavors are added. Among several biological processes, glycerol is a metabolic substrate used for lipid synthesis in fed state as well as glucose synthesis in fasting state.

Reactive semivolatile contaminants, such as isocyanates, can be particularly difficult to assess in occupational environments. While standard methods exist for isocyanates, there are still significant differences between the results they provide for various occupational environments or processes. This study presents the validation of a laboratory system for the generation of controlled atmospheres of isocyanates.

The proper design and development of bio-based polyols are of particular interest since such polyols may have special property profiles that allow the novel products to enter new applications. Sophorolipids (SL) represent a bio-based toolbox for polyol building blocks to yield diverse chemical products.

However, the extent to which neutrophils and IL-1α contribute to the maintenance of pulmonary surfactant homeostasis is not well understood. We sought to investigate whether neutrophils play a role in surfactant clearance as well as the effect of neutrophil depletion and IL-1α blockade on the response to cigarette smoke exposure.

Illustrated with experimental data tables associated with a Design of Experiments, we propose an approach that can serve as a model for research data management that allows researchers to disseminate their data by satisfying the main FAIR criteria without insurmountable efforts. More importantly, this approach aims to facilitate the FAIR compliance process by providing researchers with tools to improve their data management practices.

Because of their physicochemical properties (semi-volatile and high reactivity) and low occupational limits, diisocyanate exposure evaluation is still a challenge nowadays for industrial hygienists and laboratories. The objective of this study was to compare the methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) concentrations measured by five methods using different collection or derivatization approaches in an oriented-strand board (OSB) factory.
