Agro-morphological, biochemical, and molecular markers of barley genotypes grown under salinity stress conditions.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of salt stress on morphological, yield, biochemical, and molecular attributes of different barley genotypes. Ten genotypes were cultivated at Fayoum Research Station, El-Fayoum Governorate, Egypt, during two seasons (2020-2021 and 2021-2022), and they were exposed to two different salt concentrations (tap water as a control and 8000 ppm). The results showed that genotypes and salt stress had a significant impact on all morphological and physiological parameters.

Morphological and Molecular Characterization of Some Egyptian Six-Rowed Barley ( L.).

Barley production is essential in Egypt. In the present study, 15 different six-rowed Egyptian barley cultivars were studied. To differentiate between the different cultivars under study in terms of morphological characteristics and ISSR, molecular characterization reactions were carried out.

SCREENING TEST TO DETECT RECENT TOXOPLASMA GONDII INFECTIONS IN PREGNANT WOMEN.

The differentiation between acute and latent forms of Toxoplasma gondii (T gondii) infection is still considered as a complicated issue. This study elucidated the establishment of a method that can detect most, if not all, of the recent infections with T gondii through detecting both the immunological and genetic markers. The study included cases' group (G1): 30 pregnant women considered to be a high-risk group (with history of abnormal pregnancy outcomes), and the controls (G2) were 20 apparently healthy women cross matched in ages but with a history of normal pregnancy.

Zinner's syndrome: report of two cases and review of the literature.

Background: Congenital malformations of the seminal vesicle are uncommon, and most of them are cystic malformations. If an insult occurs between the 4th and the 13 h gestational week, the embryogenesis of the kidney, ureter, seminal vesicle, and vas deferens could be altered. Cysts of the seminal vesicle may appear with a mass effect, dysuria, epididymitis, or obstruction of the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts.

Urethral hemangioma: case report and review of the literature.

Hemangiomas are benign vascular tumors. They are the prerogative of the liver and skin. And genitourinary localizations are rare and have only been rarely reported in the prostat, bladder, ureter or the perineum.

Possible Protective Effects of Quercetin and Sodium Gluconate Against Colon Cancer Induction by Dimethylhydrazine in Mice.

Micronutrients in food have been found to have chemopreventive effects, supporting the conclusions from epidemiologie studies that consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables reduces cancer risk. The present study was carried out to evaluate the role of querctin (Q) and sodium gluconate (GNA) supplementation separately or in combination in ameliorating promotion of colon tumor development by dimethyl-hydrazine (DMH) in mice. Histopathological observation of colons in mice treated with DMH showed goblet cell dysplasia with inflammatory cell infiltration.

[Vesicouterine fistulas: an experience of 17 years].

Objective: To discuss the diagnostic and the prognostic problems of vesicouterine fistulas (VUF) emphasizing on the therapeutic characteristics that lead to successful treatment.

Materials And Methods: The authors retrieve retrospective series of 16 cases, collected between 1989 and June 2006, and they analyze the clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.

Results: The patients were young (29-40 years) with an average having three children.

Purpose: Vaginoplasty for congenital atresia, a component of the Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster syndrome, or for gender confirmation, may be achieved by several techniques. This report focuses on the efficacy of rectosigmoid neocolporrhaphy (RSNC) for primary vaginal replacement.

Materials And Methods: From 1990 to 2002 we evaluated six patients 16-33 years old (average age 23) who required vaginal replacement.

[Youssef syndrome (vesico-uterine fistula): three case reports].

The authors report a series of three cases of Youssef syndrome observed over a 10 year period. All the fistulas were secondary to cesarian section. The diagnosis was established on clinical findings in one case.

[Psychological, sexual and social aspects of bladder exstrophy in adulthood. Analysis of 3 cases].

Rare congenital malformation, bladder exstrophy is usually treated soon after birth. Based on three cases report of bladder exstrophy in adulthood (two men and one women aged from 21 to 25 years), the authors emphasize the importance of psychological, sexual, and social disorders caused by this affection treated at this age. Urinary problems were excluded of this study.

[Martius' technique in the treatment of complex vesicovaginal fistula].

Sixteen cases of vesicovaginal fistulae (including 14 urethrovaginal fistulae), were treated vaginally using Martius' procedure. The authors describe the technique for the interposition of a labial fat pad, between the bladder and the vagina. The results are good.

Objective: To specify the clinical and therapeutic peculiarities of complex vesico-vaginal fistulas.

Material And Methods: 55 cases of complex vesico-vaginal fistulas are reported. After the clinical diagnostic all the patients had an intravenous excretory urogram.

[Percutaneous nephrostomy: use of a simple inexpensive material in emergencies in precarious conditions].

We describe a cheap and simply technique of percutaneous nephrostomy which can be used anywhere. It consists, under local anesthesia, of insertion of a drain into renal cavity using only a needle, a sheat and dilatator. With this technique, we placed 81 PCN with 97% of success, without complication.

[Bladder exstrophy in the adult: therapeutic features. Report of 3 cases].

Bladder exstrophy is a malformation which the incidence is estimated at 3.3 per 100,000 births. It is usually treated in the first hours of life.

[Transitional cell carcinoma on ureteral stump after nephrectomy for pyonephrosis].

The authors report a case of transitional cell carcinoma of the left ureteral stump in a 66-year old man treated by nephrectomy for pyonephrosis 6 years previously and cystoprostatectomy for bladder tumour 13 years previously. In the light of this case and based on a review of the literature, they essentially discuss the diagnostic and aetiopathogenic problems raised by this disease.

[Unusual testicular tumor: Leydig, Sertoli, and granulosa cell mixed tumor].

We report an unusual case of a mixed granulosa-Sertoli-Leydig cell testicular tumor in a 16 year old man, who presented with bilateral gynaecomastia. A few cases have been published in the literature. Based on a case report, the authors describe the clinical, histopathological and therapeutical features of this rare affection.

[Comparative results of the treatment of post-traumatic ruptures of the membranous urethra with endoscopic realignment and surgery].

Objective: Retrospective, comparative study of the long-term results of endoscopic realignment and surgery in the treatment of complete rupture of the posterior urethra.

Material And Methods: Between 1989 and 1998, 40 men were managed for traumatic posterior rupture of the membranous urethra: 30 were treated by endoscopic realignment for complete rupture while 10 were treated by surgery (perineal or transsymphyseal incision) for a long stenosis (> 3 cm) secondary to extensive rupture of the urethra.

Results: With a mean follow-up of 30 months (12 to 72 months), all patients treated by endoscopic realignment are continent and urinate with a satisfactory urine output (Qmax > or = 15 ml/s).

Objective: Obstetric vesico-vaginal fistulas are frequent in North Africa. The objective of this paper is to analyse the epidemiologic and therapeutic factors, basing our study on 114 cases of vesico-vaginal fistulas.
