The clinical evidence, complications and the pathogenesis of COVID-19 are not clearly understood. In COVID-19 patients, cellular immune response biomarkers and oxidative stress parameters have been used as gravity markers. Indeed, oxidative stress has been proposed to play an essential role in the genesis of COVID-19.

Extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (EMZL) is a rare subtype of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma characterized by the malignant transformation of lymphoid tissue at sites affected by chronic inflammation. Pleural marginal zone lymphoma (PMZL) is an infrequent manifestation of this condition. We report a case of PMZL co-occurring with primary lung adenocarcinoma.

A novel organic-inorganic material (CHN)ZnCl·2Cl was synthesized via a slow evaporation approach and subjected to extensive characterization. Techniques involving X-ray diffraction, SEM/EDX, Hirshfeld surface examination, IR/Raman spectroscopy, thermal behavior (TG/DTG/SDTA and DSC), and electric and dielectric studies were applied. Examination of the crystal structure reveals that the synthesized material adopts a monoclinic system, particularly belonging to the 2/ space group with unit cell parameters = 11.

Periampullary malignancies are uncommon and encompass a wide variety of tumors. Early and accurate biopsy-proven diagnosis is important because different malignancy subtypes warrant different management and treatment plans. We present a unique and rare case of periampullary lymphoma, initially presenting as acute pancreatitis.

In the current study, voriconazole (VCZ) augmented glycerosomes were optimized for topical otomycosis management according to a 2 factorial design, employing a thin film hydration method. By optimizing Glycerol volume, limonene: VCZ ratio and Span® 60: soybean phosphatidyl choline (PC) ratio, glycerosomes with maximum percentage entrapment efficiency (%EE) and zeta potential (ZP) and minimum vesicle size (VS) and polydispersity index (PDI) were to be obtained. An optimal augmented glycerosomal formula (OAG) that contained 10 mg VCZ, 150 mg PC, and 3 mL glycerol, comprising 2.

Purpose: : Polyvinyl alcohol-capped silver nanostructures (cAgNSs) were investigated in order to enhance the cytotoxicity, pro-apoptotic, and oxidant patterns of in human laryngeal carcinoma Hep-2 cells by employing a 50 mT electromagnetic field (LEMF) for 30 min.

Methods: Wet chemical reduction was used to synthesize the cAgNSs, and after they had been capped with polyvinyl alcohol, they were specifically examined for particle size analysis and structural morphology. To visualize how the silver may attach to the protein targets, a molecular docking study was conducted.

The current study aimed to evaluate the pharmacokinetics and neuroprotective effect of well-characterised berberine-bovine serum albumin (BBR-BSA) nanoparticles. BBR-BSA nanoparticles were generated by desolvation method. Entrapment efficiency, loading capacity, particle size, polydispersity index, surface morphology, thermal stability, and release were estimated.

Esophageal and gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) malignancies are aggressive, and survival is poor once metastasis occurs. The most common sites of metastatic involvement include the liver, lymph nodes, lung, peritoneum, adrenal glands, bone, and brain, while skeletal muscle (SM) involvement is rare. We report a case of a 68-year-old female who presented with intractable emesis for one month and was found to have a primary GEJ adenocarcinoma measuring up to 6.

Early season carrot (Daucus carota) production is being practiced in Punjab, Pakistan to meet the market demand but high temperature hampers the seed germination and seedling establishment which cause marked yield reduction. Seed priming with potassium nitrate breaks the seed dormancy and improves the seed germination and seedling growth potential but effects vary among the species and ecological conditions. The mechanism of KNO priming in high temperature stress tolerance is poorly understood yet.

Addressing the mononuclear phagocyte system (MPS) and macrophage M1/M2 activation is important in diagnosing hematological disorders and inflammatory pathologies and designing therapeutic tools. CSF1R is a reliable marker to identify all circulating MPS cells and tissue macrophages in humans using a single surface protein. CSF1R permits the quantification and isolation of monocyte and dendritic cell (DC) subsets in conjunction with CD14, CD16, and CD1c and is stable across the lifespan and sexes in the absence of overt pathology.

Breast cancer (BC) is the most prevalent malignancy in women globally. At time of diagnosis, premenopausal BC is considered more aggressive and harder to treat than postmenopausal cases. Cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes are responsible for phase I of estrogen metabolism and thus, they are prominently involved in the pathogenesis of BC.

Chronic exposure to manganese (Mn) results in motor dysfunction, biochemical and pathological alterations in the brain. Oxidative stress, inflammation, and dysfunction of dopaminergic and GABAergic systems stimulate activating transcription factor-6 (ATF-6) and protein kinase RNA-like ER kinase (PERK) leading to apoptosis. This study aimed to investigate the protective effect of sesame oil (SO) against Mn-induced neurotoxicity.

Article Synopsis
  • Diclofenac sodium (DIC) is a common anti-inflammatory drug but can cause kidney damage over time due to oxidative stress and inflammation.
  • A study tested the protective effects of a vitamin B complex (B1, B6, B12) on DIC-induced kidney damage in rats and found that it significantly reduced kidney injury markers and inflammatory responses.
  • The vitamin B complex also countered the harmful effects on specific proteins involved in kidney health (NOX4, RhoA, ROCK), suggesting potential for healthier kidney function during DIC treatment.
