This study compares the diagnostic accuracy of three-dimensional time-of-flight MR angiography (3D-TOF-MRA) and contrast-enhanced MRA (CE-MRA) at 3 T for the evaluation of aneurysm occlusion and parent artery patency after flow diversion treatment, with digital subtraction angiography (DSA) as the gold standard.
Materials And Methods: Patients treated with flow diverters between January 2009 and January 2013 followed by MRA at 3 T (3D-TOF-MRA and CE-MRA) and DSA within a 48 h period were included in a prospective single-center study.
Purpose: To assess the evolution of acute portal vein thrombosis by computed tomography (CT).
Patients And Methods: Retrospective single-centre study (2005-2011) including 23 patients who had an initial CT scan and a CT scan during the first year. The analysis compared the last CT scan available with that of the initial CT scan.
Aims: To examine the association between cardiac autonomic neuropathy and hypertension and the role of this association in diabetic complications.
Methods: We included 310 patients, 138 with Type 1 and 172 with Type 2 diabetes, 62 of them with hypertension. Cardiac autonomic neuropathy was assessed by analysing heart rate variations during three standard tests (deep breathing, lying to standing and Valsalva) and looking for postural hypotension.

The International Standard Chinese-English Basic Nomenclature of Chinese medicine (ISN) was released in 2007, a nomenclature list consisting of 6 500 Chinese medical terms. ISN was the culmination of several years of collaborative diligent work of over 200 specialists who represent Chinese medicine in 68 countries. The overall goal for devising standard English nomenclature for Chinese medicine is to develop a practical international standard nomenclature for Chinese medical basic terms, to make it compatible with contemporary research and educational standards in the globalized health care service.

Methods: A total of 48 patients with poor glycaemic control (HbA(1c): 8-10.5%) underwent CGM for 48h using the GlucoDay((R)) system (A.
The effects of nefopam and ketamine on pain control and rehabilitation after total knee replacement were compared in a prospective, double blinded study. Seventy-five patients were randomly assigned to receive a 0.2mg kg(-1) bolus of nefopam or ketamine, followed by a 120microg kg(-1) h(-1) continuous infusion until the end of surgery, and 60microg kg(-1) h(-1) until the second postoperative day, or an equal volume of saline considered as placebo.

In humans, increased body weight and arterial stiffness are significantly associated, independently of blood pressure (BP) level. The finding was never investigated in rodents devoid of metabolic disorders as spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). Using simultaneous catheterization of proximal and distal aorta, we measured body weight, intra-arterial BP, heart rate and their variability (spectral analysis), aortic pulse wave velocity (PWV), and systolic and pulse pressure (PP) amplifications in unrestrained conscious Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats and SHR between 6 and 24 wk of age.

Methods: The incidence of outcomes was compared in three series of pregnant women: 1) the 159 consecutive women with GDM out of the 1909 women who delivered between October 2000 and September 2001: during this period screening for GDM was based on risk factors (risk factor-GDM); 2) the 265 consecutive women with GDM out of the 2111 women who delivered during the year 2002: during this period screening for GDM was universal (universal-GDM); 3) 1255 women with no GDM during year 2002 (controls).
Objective: Microalbuminuria and impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation are both predictors for cardiac events in patients with type 2 diabetes. The aim of the study was to evaluate whether microalbuminuria correlated with coronary endothelium-dependent vasodilation.
Research Design And Methods: We evaluated 84 patients (47 men, mean age 50.
Objective: Silent myocardial ischemia (SMI) in asymptomatic subjects with no history of myocardial infarction or angina is a frequent condition in diabetic patients. The aim of the study was to examine the predictive value of SMI for cardiac events in a multicenter cohort and to determine whether this value is higher in patients with a particular clinical profile.
Research Design And Methods: A total of 370 asymptomatic diabetic patients with at least two additional cardiovascular risk factors was recruited in four departments of diabetology.
Diabetes and arterial hypertension are major cardiovascular risk factors. Coronary endothelial dysfunction is frequently observed in diabetic and hypertensive patients. This study was designed to compare cardiovascular outcome of hypertensive (HT) and type 2 diabetic patients (D2) with angiographically normal coronary arteries on the basis of their epicardial coronary endothelial function.

One hundred five nondiabetic overweight (body mass index >27 kg/m2) subjects were studied. Heart rate variations were analyzed during 3 bedside standard tests investigating mainly vagal control: deep breathing, lying-to-standing, and Valsalva tests.

The aim of the present study was to investigate cardiac autonomic function in healthy subjects living in Vietnam and the prevalence of CAN in Vietnamese diabetic patients.

Silent myocardial ischemia (SMI) and silent coronary stenoses (CS) are two to seven times more frequent in diabetic patients than in non-diabetic patients. In addition to this, they have a higher predictive value for cardiovascular events than the classical cardiovascular risk factors, either taken alone or combined. Coronary arterial disease is the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in the diabetic population.

Methods: (1) sFas and sFasL were measured with the ELISA method in 44 asymptomatic diabetic patients, 33 with hypertension, and with a normal myocardial scintigraphy (n=14), with silent myocardial ischemia (SMI) and without (n=15) or with (n=15) significant coronary stenoses; and in 14 controls; (2) sFas and sFasL were measured in 15 poorly controlled diabetic patients before and after 7 days of CSII treatment.
Results: (1) sFas and sFasL differed in the four groups of patients (p=0.

A sympathetic hyperactivity is a common feature in hypertension, type 2 diabetes (T2D), ageing and obesity-induced hypertension. This increase in sympathetic activity may lead to an elevation of arterial rigidity. By contrast, cardiac parasympathetic impairment is observed in these pathologies.

Methods: Prospective, randomized controlled study, of 1 years' duration.
Aims: To determine whether performing a myocardial scintigraphy immediately after a maximal electrocardiogram (ECG) stress test is effective in detecting silent coronary stenoses and predicting cardiovascular events.
Methods: Asymptomatic patients (n = 262) aged 57.6 +/- 8.
Objective: Endothelium-dependent coronary dilation is impaired in diabetic patients and has been found to independently predict cardiovascular events (CVEs) in patients with multiple coronary risk factors. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of type 2 diabetic patients on the basis of epicardial coronary dysfunction.
Research Design And Methods: We examined 56 control subjects (aged 51.
Objectives: We have previously shown that silent coronary stenoses (CS) were predictors of subsequent major cardiac events in diabetic patients with silent myocardial ischemia (SMI). The aim of this study was to determine their correlates and their prognostic value for other cardiovascular events.
Methods: 362 asymptomatic diabetic patients, without prior myocardial infarction, with > or =1 additional risk factor and a normal resting electrocardiogram underwent a myocardial scintigraphy to detect SMI.
