Fiber-reinforced polymers (FRPs) are increasingly being used as substitutes for traditional metallic materials across various industries due to their exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. However, their orthotropic properties make them prone to multiple forms of damage, posing significant challenges in their design and application. During the design process, FRPs are subjected to various loading conditions to study their microscopic damage behavior, typically assessed through scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

In this context, this research focuses on assessing the impact of incorporating rice husk and wood flour into recycled high-density polyethylene (rec-HDPE) to analyze its mechanical properties, flammability, and thermal stability. The combined rec-HDPE content of wood flour and rice husk varied between 0% and 20%.

The percentage of rice husk biochar with recycled HDPE was varied between 10% and 40%, and the optimum percentages were found for the various properties. Mechanical characteristics were evaluated in terms of the tensile, flexural, and impact properties.

The starch was plasticized into thermoplastic starch through a mechano-ball milling process and composites were developed by reinforcing the FF and incorporating varying amounts of APP. The effects of APP on the flammability and thermal properties of the composites were studied.
