Ethics guidelines for palliative care of terminally ill patients in Islamic Republic of Iran.

Background: There have been many challenges with clinical interventions and policy decisions to enhance the quality of life and care for patients facing life-threatening illnesses, thus highlighting the need for ethical considerations and guidelines for palliative care of terminally ill patients.

Aim: To document the development of guidelines for addressing ethical concerns in the palliative care of terminally ill patients in Islamic Republic of Iran.

Methods: The guidelines were developed in 4 phases: a scoping review of existing palliative care guidelines on PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and 2 Persian databases; focus group discussions to improve the drafts guidelines; online opinion poll of 32 experts, including ethicists, religious scholars, psychologists, palliative care specialists, and sociologists; and a national workshop to produce the final guidelines for government approval.

Blood Pressure Control Among Diabetic Patients in the Eastern Mediterranean Region: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background: The control of blood pressure (BP) is a challenge in diabetic patients and is associated with adverse outcomes of diabetes. In this systematic review and metaanalysis, we investigated the BP control rate among hypertensive diabetic patients in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) countries.

Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science databases up to January 2023 for observational studies on BP control among hypertensive diabetic patients in all EMR countries.

Osteoporosis e-learning courses: A systematic review to develop a comprehensive virtual course for General Practitioners.

Purpose: One of the key strategies for effective management of osteoporosis is training health care professionals on early diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis according to a structured course. The aim was to investigate the e-learning courses on osteoporosis around the world in order to develop an online course on osteoporosis management for general practitioners (GPs).

Methods: In this review, the Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, Embase, and ERIC databases and the Google search engine were searched until March, 2021.

Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis of previously published studies were conducted, focusing on healthy non-athlete adults.

The prevalence of helmet use in motorcyclists around the world: a systematic review and meta-analysis of 5,006,476 participants.

Road traffic injuries present a significant public health burden, especially in developing countries. This systematic review and meta-analysis synthesized global evidence on motorcycle helmet use prevalence by including 299 records across 249 articles involving 5,006,476 participants from 1982 to 2022. The findings revealed a declining trend in helmet use prevalence over the past four decades, with an overall prevalence of 48.

Alteration in Gut Microbiota Composition of Older Adults Is Associated with Obesity and Its Indices: A Systematic Review.

Background: Obesity in the older adults is a health concern that increases the risk of several life-threatening diseases. Previous research has been revealed that alterations in the gut microbiota composition is related to obesity. So, understanding the gut microbiota changes in older adults' obesity may help to provide promising strategies for their health management.

Human resource management (HRM) strategies of medical staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Healthcare workers are at the forefront of fight against COVID-19 and the managers of medical centers should develop coping strategies for the challenges caused by COVID-19, especially for health human resources in order to improve the performance of healthcare organizations. The effect of local muscle vibration on clinical and biomechanical parameters in people with knee osteoarthritis: A systematic review.

To identify and synthesize available published studies on the effect of local muscle vibration (LMV) on pain, stiffness, and function in individuals with knee OA. Five databases were searched to find relevant papers on April 29, 2020, including, PubMed, Scopus, EMBASE (Ovid), Science Citation Index, and COCHRANE Central Register for Controlled Trials (CENTRAL). Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and nonrandomized-controlled-trials (non-RCTs), such as interrupted time series and prospective cohort studies were included.

Diabetic Foot scientific activities in Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute.

Introduction: Diabetic Foot (DF) as a common complication of Diabetes should be intensive intervention for prevention, management and rehabilitation. In this regard, Diabetes Research Center of Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute (EMRI) of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) considered DF as a priority research area to investigate multidimensional aspects of DF care. We are intended to summarize DF research studies affiliated to the EMRI for over the last two decades.

The effects of dietary/herbal supplements and the serum levels of micronutrients on the healing of diabetic foot ulcers in animal and human models: a systematic review.

Purpose: Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) is one of the common and serious complications in patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) worldwide. Given the considerable tendency of patients suffering from DFU to use the complementary therapies, the objectives of this study were to: (i) summarize the effects of dietary and herbal supplements on DFU characteristics and metabolic parameters in both animal models and clinical trials, and (ii) evaluate any links between the serum levels of micronutrients and DFU in observational studies.

Methods: A systematic search in five electronic databases including PubMed/Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library was conducted to find relevant English language published from 1990 until 31 December 2018.
