In this study, serine alkaline protease from halotolerant alkaliphilic Salipaludibacillus agaradhaerens strain AK-R was purified and immobilized onto double mesoporous core-shell silica (DMCSS) nanospheres. Covalent immobilization of AK-R protease onto activated DMCSS-NH nanospheres was more efficient than physical adsorption and was applied in further studies. Post kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL) and mucosal leishmaniasis (ML) are serious clinical forms of leishmaniasis caused by Leishmania donovani parasites in Sudan. Although pentavalent antimonys are used as the first line of treatment of all clinical forms of leishmaniasis, persistent PKDL and ML patients are treated with liposomal amphotericin B (Ambisome) as a second-line drug. Background: Brachmann de Lange syndrome (BDLS) is a multiple congenital anomaly syndrome characterized by a distinctive facial appearance, prenatal and postnatal growth deficiency, psychomotor delay, behavioral problems, and malformations of the upper extremities.

The clinical response following treatment with chloroquine, and the prevalence of two Plasmodium falciparum DNA polymorphisms known to associate with drug resistance, namely PfCRT K76T and Pfpgh N86Y were investigated in two sites in central and eastern Sudan.
