Factors associated with adolescent cigarette smoking in Greece: results from a cross sectional study (GYTS Study).

Background: Data about the predictors of smoking among adolescents in Greece are sparse. We tried to identify factors associated with current cigarette smoking among in-school adolescents in Greece in the context of GYTS study.

Methods: A secondary analysis of data from a questionnaire study using the Global Youth Tobacco Survey methodology was conducted to identify factors associated with smoking among adolescents in Greece.

Hypoplasia of multiple cerebral arteries: report of an unusual case.

We present a rare case of hypoplasia of the vertebral arteries bilaterally, of the basilar artery, of the posterior cerebral arteries bilaterally, and right-sided aplasia of A1 branch of anterior cerebral artery. The patient became symptomatic with sudden-onset headaches, likely caused by high hemodynamic stress. The origin of the hypoplastic cerebral arteries is uncertain, but the concomitant existence of them supports the congenital origin.

Tobacco use among students aged 13-15 years in Greece: the GYTS project.

Background: Data on the prevalence of tobacco use among teenagers in Greece are limited. We examined the prevalence of smoking among middle-school students in Greece using the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS).

Methods: The Global Youth Tobacco Survey was implemented in Greece during the academic year 2004-2005 by the University of Thessaly and the National School of Public Health.
