Evaluation of Evidence-Based Practice Competency among Greek Undergraduate Nursing Students.

For several years, the global scientific community has accepted and recognized the importance of evidence-based practice for nursing science. The main factor for the implementation of evidence-based practice is the competence of undergraduate nursing students towards evidence-based practice, so that they as active nurses are ready for its application in their clinical practice, in order to provide better care for their patients. The aim of the present study is to examine the level of evidence-based practice competency evaluated with the self-reported Evidence-Based Practice Competence Questionnaire.

Health Literacy, Self-Efficacy and Glycemic Control in Patients With Diabetes Type 2 in a Greek Population.

Aim  To investigate the relationship between health literacy (HL), self-efficacy (SE), and achievement of treatment goals in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Method The cross-sectional study was conducted with a random sample of patients with T2DM attending the diabetology clinic and the Home Care department of the General Hospital of Drama, Greece. They completed two questionnaires: the short form of the European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire (HLS-EU-Q16) to measure HL and the Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (DMSES) for people with T2DM to measure SE.

The healthcare sector contains sensitive information and can be compromised causing even fatal delays to healthcare delivery, loss of reputation of the organizations, and traumatic experiences for patients who might be stigmatized by the disclosure of their medical files. Infosec practices that are applied by nurses can make the difference in defending or compromising healthcare data.

The Development and Evaluation of an Anti-Phishing E-Learning Intervention for Nurses.

Interactive games can be included in e-learning and train users to avoid web phishing. A multimodal educational intervention consisted of a serious game was developed in order to train nurses about phishing on Internet and was evaluated by experts and end users. The system was considered acceptable and can be used as an interesting learning resource for self-regulated learning.

Assessing Internal Consistency of HAIS-Q: A Survey Conducted in Greek Hospitals.

Despite the prevailing perception that powerful software and hardware are adequate solutions to minimize information systems' security breaches, privacy remains at stake. Human factors play an important role in maintaining information security as it is evident that non secure practices applied by employees may increase the vulnerability of the systems and lead to privacy issues. Non secure practices found in literature are related to the use of Internet, the use of emails, password management, information handling and incidence reporting.

Evaluation of Pupils' Knowledge about Kidney Health.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of renal function knowledge of primary school pupils in Greece. We conducted a cross-sectional study with a convenience sample of 220 pupils, coming from the 5th and 6th grades of general education schools. A questionnaire consisting of 11 questions was developed from scratch.

A constructivist approach to teaching patients with heart failure: results from an intervention study.

Aims: Despite published guidelines emphasizing the importance of education in the management of heart failure (HF), the most effective method of education remains unknown. The aim of this study was to test the efficacy of constructivist teaching method (CTM) on the patients with HF.

Factors That Influence the Relationship Between Social Support and Health-Related Quality of Life of Older People Living in the Community.

As the proportion of older people in Greece grows and the need for promoting healthy aging is apparent, it becomes increasingly important to investigate the relationship between social support and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of older people in the community. A cross-sectional study was conducted in 451 older people living in the community in greater Athens, Greece, with an anonymous questionnaire, including demographics, and the EQ5D including EuroQol-visual analogue scale (EQ-VAS) and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Multivariate linear regression analysis was applied to identify independent factors related to perceived social support and HRQoL.

Attitudes towards people with physical or intellectual disabilities among nursing, social work and medical students.

Aims And Objectives: To examine and compare undergraduate healthcare students' attitudes towards people with physical or intellectual disabilities in Greece.

Background: The experience that people with disabilities have with health care is a complex interaction between their medical condition and the social and physical environment. Attitudes of the nursing and healthcare staff affect the quality of care and people's adaptation to their disability, self-image and rehabilitation outcomes.

The last six years the global community is facing an economic crisis that first appeared in USA. This crisis has a lot of impacts especially in health sector. Unemployment, job insecurity and the loss of disposable income have a significant impact in health too.

Health Related Quality of Life in a Sample of Older People who are Members of Open Care Centers for the Elderly.

The consequences of demographic ageing, demographic and social-economic changes, changes in the structure of family, in the shrinkage of Welfare state, influenced the lifestyle of the older people and their social relations. The institution of Open Care Centers for the Elderly (KAPI) was created in the context of these conditions. This cross-sectional study examined the lifestyle of the older people who are member of KAPI and their association with all HRQoL dimensions.

Evaluating a Health Educational First aid Program with the Implementation of Synchronous Distance Learning.

The education in First Aid through health education programs can help in promoting the health of the population. Meanwhile, the development of alternative forms of education with emphasis on distance learning implemented with e-learning creates an innovative system of knowledge and skills in different population groups. The main purpose of this research proposal is to investigate the effectiveness of the educational program to candidates educators about knowledge and emergency preparedness at school.

Development, implementation and evaluation of a disaster training programme for nurses: a Switching Replications randomized controlled trial.

Background: Training efforts in disaster education need to provide updated knowledge, skills and expertise to nurses through evidence-based interventions.

Aim: The purpose of the study was the development, implementation and evaluation of an educational programme for nurses regarding the provision of health care during disasters.

Methods: A randomized controlled trial using Switching Replications design was conducted for the evaluation of the programme.
