Irrigation is a cornerstone of global food security, enabling sustainable agricultural production and helping to ensure that food is available for people around the world, now and in the future. Mapping irrigated fields provides valuable information for sustainable water management, agricultural development, and environmental conservation efforts. However, the collection of high-quality training data, which is necessary for accurate irrigation mapping remains costly and labour-intensive.

Interest in health information technologies (HITs) has increased due to COVID-19. Most studies have focused on the acceptance of HIT by physicians and nurses, while there is a lack of studies on patients' perception and acceptance of such systems in ophthalmology.

A 30G needle on a 1 ml air-filled syringe injects air into the stromal lamellae with the bevel up, leading to stromal emphysema.

By utilizing GPU processing, it can perform these simulations up to two orders of magnitude faster than existing tools with standard hardware. This offers breeders and scientists new opportunities to simulate genetic gain and optimize breeding schemes.

The data they produce is heterogeneous, complicated, often poorly documented and, as a result, difficult to reuse. Meeting societal needs (nutrition, crop adaptation and stability) requires more efficient methods toward data integration and reuse.

Contact lens wear and poor contact lens hygiene significantly increase the risk of corneal infection. This study aimed to determine the level of contact lens hygiene awareness amongst contact lens wearers attending our service and determining whether contact lens type and hygiene attitude are related to severity of disease.

Methodology A total of 21 eyes from 21 patients with RCES either following trauma or spontaneously due to underlying anterior basement membrane dystrophy (ABMD) were prospectively enrolled over a six-month period. The acute episode was managed with topical sodium chloride 5% ophthalmic ointment applied twice daily for 30 days.

We present the case of a 59-year-old woman with PAX6- and WT1-negative congenital aniridia who developed aniridia-associated keratopathy and progressive endothelial dysfunction with corneal decompensation after cataract surgery. The patient underwent successful ultrathin Descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty.

Twenty-five percent of adults will develop the disease during their lifetime with the risk increasing to one in two over the age of 50. Herpes zoster ophthalmicus presents with a plethora of ocular manifestations ranging from the characteristic rash in the distribution of the ophthalmic branch of the fifth cranial nerve to more severe keratouveitis, disciform keratitis, and even retinal necrosis.

Descriptive ML techniques group data with little or no prior domain specific assumptions; they can generate hypotheses and automatically sort data prior to other analyses. Predictive ML techniques allow for the predictive modelling of highly non-linear systems where casual mechanisms are poorly understood, as is often the case for ES.

Adaptation strategies were developed that are locally relevant by identifying a set of technologies that help to offset potential impacts of climate change on maize yields. Impacts and adaptation options were evaluated using projections by 20 Coupled Model Intercomparison Project-Phase 5 (CMIP5) climate models under two representative concentration pathways (RCPs) 4.

This is particularly challenging in the plant phenotyping domain, due to its complexity and heterogeneity. We have produced the MIAPPE 1.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFScientists, stakeholders and decision makers face trade-offs between adopting simple or complex approaches when modeling ecosystem services (ES). Complex approaches may be time- and data-intensive, making them more challenging to implement and difficult to scale, but can produce more accurate and locally specific results. In contrast, simple approaches allow for faster assessments but may sacrifice accuracy and credibility.

Hence, the available method to best achieve this continues to stir progress in the field. The aim of this study is to evaluate the use of the Endosaver injector device for graft insertion in Descemet's stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK) and compare the visual outcomes and endothelial cell survival between the Endosaver injector and Goosey grasping forceps insertion techniques.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAgricultural modeling has long suffered from fragmentation in model implementation. Many models are developed, there is much redundancy, models are often poorly coupled, model component re-use is rare, and it is frequently difficult to apply models to generate real solutions for the agricultural sector. To improve this situation, we argue that an open, self-sustained, and committed community is required to co-develop agricultural models and associated data and tools as a common resource.

The Herpetic Eye Disease Study has guided the management of herpetic eye disease for almost twenty years, but newer medications such as valacyclovir are now available and are considered to have better bioavailability than acyclovir. In this review, we examine the existing evidence on the pathogenesis of different ophthalmic herpes simplex viral keratitis disease modalities and the role of oral and topically administered antiviral drugs in the treatment of herpes simplex viral keratitis.

Methods: Trainees with minimal intraocular and simulator experience in their first year of ophthalmology undertook a structured, sequential, customised, virtual reality (VR) cataract training programme developed through the International Forum of Ophthalmic Simulation. A set of one-handed, bimanual, static and dynamic tasks were evaluated before and after the course and scores obtained.
Purpose: To describe the evolution of ophthalmic plastic surgical training since the establishment of an oculoplastic subspecialty.
Methods: A systematic search and consultation was undertaken, involving various oculoplastic societies and selected members, to better define the previous and currently evolving training paradigms in oculoplastics. The salient events along with variances that exist in programs across the world today are analysed.
