Investigating obstetrics and gynecology forensic cases at a tertiary health center in Turkey to demonstrate the significance of forensic evaluation.

Objectives: To assess the diagnostic rates of forensic case patients who sought gynecological and obstetrics care, as well as the differences in forensic report production based on the event.

Study Design: The following factors were looked into: age of the patients, time between the incident and consultation, reason for consultation (pregnancy determination during the post-divorce waiting period, sexual assault, hymen examination, physical violence, other), time of the consultation (in-hours or out-of-hours), place of referral (prosecutor's office/court, police station, own request), and type of report (final or preliminary). The data were obtained retrospectively.

Unraveling the impact of therapeutic drug monitoring via machine learning for patients with sepsis.

Clinical studies investigating the benefits of beta-lactam therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) among critically ill patients are hindered by small patient groups, variability between studies, patient heterogeneity, and inadequate use of TDM. Accordingly, definitive conclusions regarding the efficacy of TDM remain elusive. To address these challenges, we propose an innovative approach that leverages data-driven methods to unveil the concealed connections between therapy effectiveness and patient data, collected through a randomized controlled trial (DRKS00011159; 10th October 2016).

Etiology and perinatal outcomes between early and late-onset nonimmune hydrops fetalis.

Objective: We aimed to compare the etiology and perinatal outcomes of non-immune hydrops fetalis diagnosed early- and late-onset at our hospital.

Methods: The records of the patients who applied to our department were reviewed, and we reached 42 non-immune hydrops fetalis cases retrospectively and examined the medical records. Hydrops diagnosis week, birth week, accompanying anomalies, and perinatal outcomes were compared as ≤12 weeks (early-onset) and >12 weeks (late-onset).

High-risk pregnancies not only heighten concerns about the baby's health but also have the potential to impact the mother-infant relationship by shifting the mother's focus towards her own health needs. This study aims to delve into the intricacies of motherhood roles among women experiencing high-risk pregnancies compared to those with uncomplicated pregnancies, aiming to shed light on the disparities between the two groups. The participants of this descriptive, comparative, and correlational study consisted of literate mothers admitted to a hospital in Eastern Turkey, diagnosed with high-risk pregnancies, and with no prior history of psychological support.

Evaluation of Gingival Pigmentation and Related Factors on Former Smokers.

Objectives: Gingival pigmentation, the most common etiological factor of which is smoking, is a clinical condition that causes aesthetic complaints. Due to the dose-dependent effect of smoking, gingival pigmentation may present regression following cessation. This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate gingival pigmentation in former tobacco consumers and compare with current ones.

The effect of antiangiogenic agent aflibercept on surgically induced endometriosis in a rat model.

Objective: The aim of the study is to show for the first time how aflibercept affects endometriosis lesions.

Material And Methods: Surgically induced endometriosis in Wistar albino female rats. Rats with endometriosis were randomly divided into three groups: control (Co), aflibercept (Af), and leuprolide acetate (Le).

C-reactive protein to albumin ratio may predict in-hospital mortality in non-ST elevation myocardial infarction.

The authors investigated the value of novel inflammatory markers, systemic immune-inflammation index and C-reactive protein to albumin ratio (CAR), to predict in-hospital mortality in patients with non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). A total of 308 patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention because of NSTEMI were retrospectively included in the study. Killip classification, Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction score, SYNTAX score, and CAR and systemic immune-inflammation index values were calculated.

Retrospective Evaluation of Bone Metastases in Patients With Thyroid Malignancy: A Single-Center Experience.

The role of inflammation in cases with gestational diabetes mellitus: Systemic immune inflammatory index according to trimesters.

Problem: This study aims to investigate the role of the systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII) in inflammation by analyzing SII values by trimester in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

Method Of Study: Between May 2019 and June 2020, we retrospectively enrolled 467 pregnant women who were followed from the first trimester to delivery in our hospital. We evaluated the sociodemographic characteristics, laboratory test results, SII values, Apgar scores, and newborn birth weights of pregnant women diagnosed with GDM.

Random start ovarian stimulation before gonadotoxic therapies in women with cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to quantify the effect of random start ovarian stimulation (RSOS) compared with conventional start ovarian stimulation (CSOS) in cancer patients before gonadotoxic treatment. The final analytical cohort encompassed 688 RSOS and 1076 CSOS cycles of cancer patients before gonadotoxic treatment. Eleven studies were identified by database searches of MEDLINE, Cochrane Library and cited references.

Risk factors for mortality and morbidity in Syrian refugee children with penetrating abdominal firearm injuries: an 1-year experience.

Background: Despite improvements in technology and surgical techniques, abdominal injuries caused by firearms in children are traumatic with high complication rates and mortality. In this study, factors affecting mortality and complications in penetrating abdominal firearm injuries caused by high-velocity bullets and shrapnel in children as a result of the civil war in Syria were evaluated.

Methods: This study was conducted as a case series with 53 patients admitted to Kilis State Hospital with penetrating abdominal firearm injuries between January 2016 and February 2017.

Purpose: Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) has a pulsatile and circadian rhythm in healthy individuals. We aimed to evaluate the diurnal changes of free thyroid hormones and serum TSH levels in patients with end-stage renal failure (ESRF) whose thyroidal functions are at normal ranges.

Methods: Thirty hemodialysis patients with chronic renal failure and without a known thyroidal disease who are over 18 and 35 healthy individuals were included.

Objective This study aimed to investigate the cytomorphological effects of heavyweight and lightweight mesh on the ilioinguinal nerve in an experimental animal model. Methods Sixteen New Zealand male rabbits were included in the study. The left inguinal regions of the first six animals were assigned as controls and the right inguinal regions were assigned as the sham group.

Deposit formation from evaporating urea-water droplets on substrates of different wettability.

Hypothesis: During the evaporation of urea water solution (UWS), the wall temperature and surface properties influence the dynamics of deposit formation by affecting the internal mass transport. These effects are expected to be reflected in the resulting deposit morphology and allow different deposit regimes to be distinguished.

Experiments: The temperature of metallic substrates is varied for three different surface treatments to analyze the wetting, evaporation behavior and the crystallization process of single UWS droplets in situ using a high-speed camera.
