The development of HS-donating derivatives of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) is considered important to reduce or overcome their gastrointestinal side effects. Sulforaphane, one of the most extensively studied isothiocyanates (ITCs), effectively releases HS at a slow rate. Thus, we rationally designed, synthesized, and characterized new ITC derivatives (I1-3 and I1a-e) inspired by the natural compound sulforaphane.

Purpose: To investigate cases exhibiting overlapping features of persistent fetal vasculature (PFV) and combined hamartoma of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium (CHRRPE) and to explore potential associations between these developmental ocular anomalies.
Methods: This retrospective, descriptive case series included 9 eyes of 8 patients aged 0-7 years with shared clinical features of PFV and CHRRPE. Diagnoses were established through clinical examination and intraoperative findings.
The development of multitargeted drugs represents an innovative approach to cancer treatment, aiming to enhance drug effectiveness while minimizing side effects. Herein, we sought to elucidate the inhibitory effect of selagibenzophenone B derivatives on the survival of cancer cells and dual topoisomerase I/II enzyme activity. Results demonstrated that among the compounds, selectively inhibited the proliferation and migration of prostate cancer cells while exhibiting minimal effects on healthy cells.

Materials And Methods: The preoperative abdominal CT examinations of the donor candidates in a single institution between December 2018 and May 2022 were retrospectively evaluated. Portal vein types are divided into 3; classical anatomy was considered type 1, PV trifuction was considered type 2, and if the first branch arising from the main portal vein is the right posterior branch, it was accepted as type 3.
Background: Intraoperative neural monitoring (IONM) has been utilized for a variety of thyroid pathologies, including papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Remnant thyroid tissue following total thyroidectomy (TT) in patients with PTC is associated with increased recurrence. The aim of this study is to investigate whether the use of IONM in PTC surgery has an impact on the completeness of thyroidectomy.

Corresponding amine derivatives (-) were also obtained by the reduction reaction of the imine derivatives (-). All synthesized products were characterized by FT-IR, H NMR, C NMR, and LC-MS spectroscopic techniques.

Yet, the relationship between hepatic and pancreatic steatosis with post-transplant diabetes mellitus remains vague. We aimed to evaluate pancreatic steatosis, a novel component of metabolic syndrome, and hepatic steatosis association with post-transplant diabetes mellitus in a single-center retrospective cohort study conducted on kidney transplant recipients.

The molecules are formed via intramolecular electrophilic aromatic substitution, resembling a cyclization leading towards the natural selaginpulvilins from selaginellins. The scope of the reaction was investigated, and the products were obtained in 60-95 % yields.

Materials And Methods: Patients with ROP were divided into three groups: Group 1, patients with spontaneous regression (n=45); Group 2, patients who received laser treatment (n=70); and Group 3, patients who underwent surgical treatment (n=91). Rates of anisometropia, amblyopia, nystagmus, macular ectopia, and retinal pathologies were evaluated and their impacts on strabismus development were determined.
Aim: To assess the clinical and genetic characteristics of children diagnosed with retinoblastoma (RB) at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine's Department of Pediatric Oncology.
Methods: All cases diagnosed with RB and received treatment and follow-up in the Ophthalmology and Pediatric Oncology Department, October 2016 to May 2021 were evaluated retrospectively. The gene was analyzed by next-generation sequencing (NGS) technique in DNAs obtained from peripheral blood samples of the patients.

Purpose: To evaluate the peripheral vascular changes and effects of these on macular microvasculature in asymptomatic family members of familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR) patients.
Methods: This is a retrospective study including 61 eyes of asymptomatic family members of FEVR patients. Retinal abnormalities were assessed via ultra-widefield fluorescein angiography (UWF-FA) and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).

Purpose: This study aims to investigate surgical outcomes of eyes with severe anterior persistent fetal vasculature (PFV) and the role of associated anatomical anomalies on prognosis.
Methods: This is a retrospective, comparative case series of 32 eyes of 31 patients who underwent vitreoretinal surgery for severe anterior PFV, defined as fibrovascular tissue totally covering the back of cataractous lens. Based on the degree of anterior retinal elongations, cases were classified as follows: group 1, eyes with well-developed pars plana and minor/no abnormalities (n = 11, 34%); group 2, eyes with partially developed pars plana and broad-based elongations (n = 9, 28%); and group 3, eyes with no visible pars plana and fibrovascular membrane having 360° continuity with peripheral retina (n = 12, 38%).
As in many countries, there is neither a surveillance system nor a study to reveal the hemodialysis (HD) related infection rates in Turkey. We aimed to investigate the infection rate among HD outpatients and implement CDC's surveillance system. A multicenter prospective surveillance study is performed to investigate the infection rate among HD patients.

We aim to report an infant who experienced anaphylaxis due to cyclopentolate eye drops.
Case: A nine-month-old girl, who was being followed up with a diagnosis of retinoblastoma, presented for consultation for urticaria, cough, stridor, and dyspnea that developed after the administration of topical cyclopentolate to the eyes.
Prcis: This study demonstrates that a baseline corneal diameter >12.25, initial age <4 months at diagnosis, higher baseline IOP than 24 mm Hg, bilaterality, or inability to perform circumferential trabeculotomy, increases the risk of surgical failure of trabeculotomy in patients with primary congenital glaucoma (PCG).
Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify clinical predictive factors for surgical failure and to evaluate potential prognostic factors affecting surgical success in patients with PCG who underwent trabeculotomy.
Purpose: To evaluate vascular maturation of retina, axial, refractive, and foveal development after anti-VEGF treatment including bevacizumab, ranibizumab, and aflibercept in infants with treatment requiring retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in long term.
Methods: This retrospective chart review study included children with a history of any anti-VEGF monotherapy for ROP in Zone 1 or posterior Zone 2 who have reached at least 24 months of corrected age. The records of ophthalmologic examination including strabismus evaluation, visual acuity measurement, refractive and axial measurements, optical coherence tomography, and fundus fluorescein angiography examinations with RetCam III were reviewed.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are one of the most frequently prescribed drug classes with wide therapeutic applications over the centuries. Starting from the use of salicylate-containing willow leaves to the recent rise and fall of highly selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors and the latest dual-acting anti-inflammatory molecules, they have displayed a rapid and ongoing evolution. Despite the enormous advances in the last twenty years, investigators are still in search of the design and development of more potent and safer therapy against inflammatory conditions.

Subjects/methods: Retrospective, single surgeon, consecutive case series of 52 eyes of 44 patients with posterior PFVS who underwent VRS. Cases were divided into "tent-shaped TRD" and "funnel-shaped TRD" groups based on the preoperative TRD configuration.
Persistent fetal vasculature (PFV) syndrome is characterized by abnormal regression of the fetal hyaloid system and may occur in various forms. In this report, two atypical cases associated with posterior capsular defect and ectopic lens material located along Cloquet's canal are discussed. Ultrasonography of these patients presenting with bilateral total cataracts revealed a hyaloidal stalk extending from the optic nerve head to the retrolental area.
