Nasal and Serum Immunoglobulin E Levels in Symptomatic Allergic Rhinitis Patients: A Case-Control Study.

Allergic Rhinitis (AR) is an inflammatory condition of the nasal mucosa triggered by Immunoglobulin E (IgE) mediated response to exposure to allergens. The most common symptoms are nasal obstruction, sneezing, runny nose and these in addition to swollen, itchy, red and watery eyes. Recent studies have shown highly elevated immunoglobulin E levels in the airway mucosa independently of serum IgE levels and atopic status.

A Prospective Study to Elucidate the Efficacy of 4 Oral Prednisolone Regimens in Acute Acoustic Trauma.

Noise induced hearing loss affects around 5% of the population and acoustic trauma to military personnel accounts for 30% of all injuries inflicted during active service. Initial treatment for acoustic trauma involves administration of steroids, however there are no studies regarding oral steroid regimens for best outcomes. Eosinophilic and Non-eosinophilic Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps and Their Clinical Comparison in Indian Population.

Eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (eCRSwNP) and non-eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (neCRSwNP) are two distinct endotypes of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). The aim of the study was to find the prevalence of eCRSwNP and neCRSwNP, their clinical comparison and to establish predictive values for clinical and diagnostic factors to differentiate between eCRSwNP and neCRSwNP in Indian population with CRSwNP. This study was a prospective cohort, multi- institutional study.

Role of Mastoidectomy with Type 1 Tympanoplasty in Paediatric Patients with Poor Contralateral Ear Status.

The aim of the study was to assess the role of mastoidectomy with type 1 tympanoplasty in the management of paediatric patients with poor contralateral ear status and to evaluate the prognostic factors that may influence the success outcome of type 1 tympanoplasty. A prospective study of 112 paediatric patients from 4 to 12 years of age. All patients in the study had bilateral ear perforations.
