Objective: To explore how Sesame Workshop resources are perceived by Latino families with economic hardship and to highlight approaches for early heart healthy routine promotion.
Methods: We performed a purposive sampling of Latina mothers (n = 40) with young children experiencing economic hardship. Using an interview guide informed by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research, we recorded Spanish and English semistructured interviews, which were translated and transcribed verbatim.
Recent studies have suggested that increasing habitat complexity of artificial seawalls by modifying surface heterogeneity could enhance exploitable habitat and therefore species richness and abundance. We tested the effects of adding complex tiles (with crevices/ledges) of different heterogeneity (i.e.

While there were already several palm oil related spills around the world, the ecological effects and risks of such accidents to coastal marine environments remain largely unknown. In this study, we found that all seawater and sediment samples collected from six coastal sites were heavily contaminated by palm stearin within 1 week of the accident, and their levels significantly decreased to preaccident levels after four months.

Predation experiments were conducted in the laboratory under salinity levels of 22‰ and 32‰, as well as under field conditions. The results indicate that the invasive bivalves are more vulnerable to predation than the native bivalve in environments with high salinity, whereas environments with moderately low salinity (22‰) may reduce predation.

This poster is about the infrastructure necessary to built a Big Data system for the ICU. Together with the infrastructure, the conformation of a multidisciplinary team is essential to develop Big Data to use in critical care medicine.

Intensive care represents the critical care setting of a hospital, where fundamental, precise, and fast decisions have to be made. These decisions will affect the outcome of the patients in a matter of few hours. The knowledge of the therapeutic interventions applied in this setting is evolving, thus the perspective of Big Data may provide a new paradigm in the ICU.

This study tested whether these introduced species have higher thermal and salinity tolerance than the native species under local subtropical seawater conditions. Survival, attachment, clearance rate and byssal thread production of these three species were examined through 96-h acute temperature and salinity tests.

The hydration state of 17 female elite soccer players (age: 21.5 ± 3 years; body mass: 62 ± 6 kg; body height: 165 ± 9 cm) was determined by measuring their urine specific gravity (USG) prior to three different sports events: training sessions (PT), friendly (PF) and official (PO) matches.

This has been associated with pelvic fractures and other great vessel lesions. Management options include endovascular covered stent placement, open anatomic repair with autogenous conduit, or open extra-anatomic repair with prosthetic material.

Here, through the use of experimental recruitment panels and predation exclusion cages, we examined 1) whether a subtropical seasonality (i.e.

The most common mechanism of trimethoprim (TMP)-resistance is the acquisition of dihydrofolate reductase enzyme resistant to this drug. Previous molecular characterization of TMP-genes resistance in Chilean isolates of Shigella sonnei searching for dfrA1 and dfrA8, showed solely the presence of dfrA8 (formerly dhfrIIIc). However, these genetic markers were absent in S.

Nanoparticles of CdTe (5.6 nm) were incorporated through an electric field directed layer-by-layer assembly method on ITO electrodes.

In addition, we briefly review the management of obstructed gastric conduit in patients status-post minimally invasive esophagectomy. On literature review, it was noted that gastrojejunostomy after esophagectomy was exceptionally rare.

The most described antenatal symptoms are reduced fetal movements and an abnormal fetal heart rate trace. We present a case of fetal listeriosis suspected by ultrasound findings of fetal gastrointestinal compromise, neonatal diagnosis and outcome.

We present the first FP case for EBUS-rt-TBNA secondary to a carcinoma in situ (CIS) in the bronchial point of puncture. A 66-years-old male was referred to our Institution because of a mass in left lower lobe.

Material And Methods: The program included a total of 44 patients (88 procedures) subjected to videothoracoscopy and clipping of the TSNS in a one day surgery unit. Data were collected and analysed retrospectively, and a descriptive and comparative statistical analysis was performed between the two periods (A and B).
The objective of our study was to determine the procedure-related requirements of mediastinal node sampling with endobronchial ultrasonography with real-time transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) that would provide negative predictive value (NPV) for the identification of stage III disease in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) high enough to consider the technique equivalent to cervical mediastinoscopy. Representative EBUS-TBNA was defined as a sampling procedure obtaining satisfactory samples from normal nodes in regions 4R, 4L and 7 or diagnosing malignancy in mediastinal nodes. NPV was estimated using the results of postsurgical staging in patients who underwent surgery as a reference.

The aim of this prospective-randomized study was to investigate the effect of phrenic nerve infiltration (PNI) compared with suprascapular nerve block (SNB) on ipsilateral shoulder pain after thoracic surgery.
Methods: After Local Research Ethics Committee approval, written informed consent was obtained from 90 adult patients undergoing thoracotomy for pulmonary resection.
Background: Ventral incisional hernias still remain a common surgical problem. We tested the feasibility of transvaginal placement of a large synthetic mesh to repair a porcine hernia.
Methods: Seven pigs were used in this survival model.
The O-antigen determines the specificity of bacterial serotype, a sort of bacterial fingerprinting. In this work we report the extraction, purification and characterization of the O-antigen of two pathogenic bacteria, Escherichia coli O16 and Salmonella typhimurium. Molecular fingerprints found in the vibrational spectra represent a powerful analytical technique for identification (or differentiation) of molecular moieties in complex systems such as pathogens.

Patients And Methods: In this phase III trial, 624 patients with stage IA (tumor size > 2 cm), IB, II, or T3N1 were randomly assigned to surgery alone (212 patients), three cycles of preoperative paclitaxel-carboplatin followed by surgery (201 patients), or surgery followed by three cycles of adjuvant paclitaxel-carboplatin (211 patients). The primary end point was disease-free survival.
Background: Adhesion-related complications after abdominal surgery result in significant morbidity and costs. Results from animal studies investigating prevention or treatment of adhesions are limited due to lack of consistency in existing animal models. The aim of this study was to compare quality and quantity of adhesions in four different models and to find the best model.

Methods: In eight pigs, a RYGB was performed and a 1-cm leak was created.
