Appropriate positioning of the maxilla is critical in orthognathic surgery. As opposed to splint-based positioning, navigation systems are versatile and appropriate in assessing the vertical dimension. Bulk and disruption to the line of sight are drawbacks of optical navigation systems.

The goal of this IBRA symposium and this paper was to evaluate current trends and potential changes of treatment strategies for mandibular condylar fractures, which remain controversial over the past decades.
Methods: Using a cross-sectional study design, we enrolled the consensus based on the panel of experts and participants in the IBRA Symposium 2012.

Use of an autologous latissimus flap in breast reconstruction accounts for a supple and natural look of reconstructed breast. Most common postoperative complication, seroma, became more of a rule then an exception when it comes to postoperative evaluation of the patients who underwent this reconstructive procedure. A retrospective study analysing and evaluating different complication rates in 20 patients who underwent breast reconstruction by autologous latissimus flap, was conducted.

Method: A prospective clinical and radiological study was carried out over a 41-month period. All adult patients suffering from a displaced LSCF or HSCF who consented to the surgical treatment were included in the study.
We carried out an investigation on 92 patients having benefited from an orthognathic surgery, in order to demonstrate the effects of the dento-facial deformations on the patients' everyday life and the psychological impact of the multidisciplinary treatment. Questionnaires were drawn up and sent to the residence of the patients: one preoperative, transmitted 15 days before the intervention and one postoperative, addressed 6 months afterwards. Our results revealed that all the patients of our study were satisfied and that this treatment eliminated the complex of 90% of the patients.

Submental intubation is an interesting alternative to tracheotomy, especially when short-term postoperative control of the airway is foreseeable, and as control of the dental occlusion is complete, and access to the nose and mouth is undisturbed.
Material: This kind of intubation has been used in our department in 25 cases since 1997.
Introduction: The purpose of this experimental study was to demonstrate the stress patterns arising in the region of the mandibular condyle during mastication.
Material And Method: Stress analysis was performed using reflection photoelasticity to demonstrate deformation occurring on the surface of the mandible. The rami of three fresh dentate human mandibles were coated with a shell of photoelastic resin.
