Purpose: Standard therapy for breast cancer after breast-conserving surgery is radiation therapy (RT) plus hormone therapy (HT). For patients with a low-risk of recurrence, there is an interest in deescalating therapy.

Methods And Materials: A retrospective study was carried out for patients treated at the Swedish Cancer Institute from 2000 to 2015, aged 70 years or older, with pT1N0 or pT1NX estrogen receptor-positive and ERBB2-negative unifocal breast cancer without positive surgical margins, high nuclear grade, or lymphovascular invasion.

Background: Current guidelines recommend postmastectomy irradiation (PMI) for patients with tumors >5 cm and/or ≥4 positive lymph nodes. This study evaluates the effect of PMI on recurrence and survival within tumor size and node status groups.

Methods: Locoregional and distant recurrences and survival for different tumor and treatment characteristics were analyzed in 2,797 patients with invasive breast cancer treated with mastectomy.

We evaluate the CyberKnife (Accuray Incorporated, Sunnyvale, CA, USA) for non-invasive delivery of accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) in early breast cancer patients. Between 6/2009 and 5/2011, nine patients were treated with CyberKnife APBI. Normal tissue constraints were imposed as outlined in the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project B-39/Radiation Therapy Oncology Group 0413 (NSABP/RTOG) Protocol (Vicini and White, 2007).
