Palladium is one of the best metal catalysts for Suzuki cross-coupling reaction to synthesize unsymmetrical biaryl compounds. However, homogeneous palladium (Pd) is limited in an industrial scale due to the high cost, separation, removal, and recovery issues. In this paper, a novel, high activity magnetic nanoparticles (FeO@SiO-APBA-Pd) catalyst was prepared by a simple, cost-effective procedure.

They were aminopropyl bonded silica gel (SiO-N), ethylenediamine--propyl bonded silica gel (SiO-2N), diethylenetriamine bonded silica gel (SiO-3N), triethylenetetramine bonded silica gel (SiO-4N), tetraethylene pentamine bonded silica gel (SiO-5N), pentaethylene hexamine bonded silica gel (SiO-6N) and polyvinylimide bonded silica gel (SiO-N). The densities of the bonded amino groups in SiO-N and SiO-2N prepared by a one-step method were up to 2.
