Norrie Disease: Cochlear Enhancement and Cerebellar Signal Abnormalities.

Norrie Disease is a rare X-linked condition characterized by early childhood blindness and later onset sensorineural hearing loss. We report two male infants with genetically confirmed Norrie Disease and characteristic ocular abnormalities consisting of bilateral funnel retinal detachments, anterior segment dysgenesis, and/or buphthalmos and microphthalmia. MRI demonstrated enhancement of the cranial nerves, cochleae, and cerebellum with cerebellar restricted diffusion.

Incidental diagnosis of presacral ganglioneuroma in a patient with hematuria.

Ganglioneuromas are benign neuroblastic tumors seen most in pediatric population. The most common locations are mediastinal, retroperitoneal and adrenal regions. Ganglioneuromas rarely occur in presacral space.

Applications of dual-energy computed tomography and virtual non-contrast technique in neuroimaging are still emerging. While the role of DECT in differentiating parenchymal hemorrhage and contrast media after mechanical revascularization is well recognized, the value of DECT in evaluation of brain ischemia in post resuscitation patients who have received intravenous (IV) iodinated contrast is not well documented. We present a challenging case where DECT helped explain hyperattenuation in cortical grey matter and deep grey nuclei as well as cerebellar hemispheres in a comatose patient post cardiac arrest following massive pulmonary embolism.

Background: Gender disparity exists in nearly every medical specialty, particularly in leadership roles and academia. Radiology is not exempt from this phenomenon, with women making up less than a third of radiology residents in the United States (US). This can have long-lasting effects on the career progression of female radiologists.

Association of Zika Virus with Myocarditis, Heart Failure, and Arrhythmias: A Literature Review.

As the concerns regarding Zika virus (ZIKV) are mostly of neurological disorders, especially in neonates and infants, other possible threats of the virus may have been overlooked. Our study focuses on the potential threat that ZIKV may pose to the heart like that of similar arboviral diseases. We conducted a literature search of multiple terms in March 2017 using the search engines, PubMed, Embase, and SCOPUS.
