Inflammatory depression is associated with selective glomerular hypofiltration.

Background: Systemic low-grade inflammation may be a pathophysiological mechanism in a subtype of depression. In this study we investigate a novel candidate mechanism of inflammatory depression - Selective Glomerular Hypofiltration Syndromes (SGHS) - which are characterized by a reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) based on cystatin C (cysC) relative to eGFR based on creatinine (crea). SGHS have been associated with increased blood levels of pro-inflammatory markers, but have never been investigated in a sample of depressed individuals.

While wintertime has been linked to mental health problems, the role of wintertime daylight has been scarcely studied. We examined longitudinal associations for wintertime objective exposure to global radiation and self-reported daylight exposure with symptoms of depression and sleep problems.

Background: Participation in care is considered to promote safe and qualitative care. Previous research concludes that uncertainties exist regarding what participation in care means in clinical practice, which necessitates the need to illuminate the phenomenon for older persons in critical life situations.

Purpose: Being a family member to someone who has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is demanding and often requires sacrificing a lot. Family members can experience fatigue, anxiety, guilt and need support. The aim was to explore registered nurses' (RNs') experiences of providing support to the families of patients with ALS within specialized palliative home care (SPHC).

Tru-Cut Biopsy in Gynecological Cancer: Adequacy, Accuracy, Safety and Clinical Applicability.

Purpose: Tru-cut biopsy is a minimally invasive technique used to obtain tissue samples for the diagnosis of tumors, especially in patients where primary surgery is not indicated. The aim of this study was to assess the adequacy, accuracy and safety of the tru-cut biopsy for diagnosis in gynecological cancer.

Purpose: The majority of women with ovarian cancer are diagnosed in late stages. Most women do have symptoms prior to diagnosis, sometimes several months before the diagnosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the timeline from the first presentation of symptoms to a physician until there is a reasonable suspicion of cancer, among women diagnosed with advanced stage ovarian cancer.

Background: We primarily aimed to determine whether the presence of enlarged cardiophrenic lymph nodes (CPLNs), visualized by computed tomography (CT), and CA-125 can be used to assess diaphragmatic carcinomatosis and residual disease (RD) in advanced ovarian cancer (AOC) patients treated with upfront surgery. The secondary aim was to determine the prognostic role of CT-CPLNs in overall survival (OS).

Material And Methods: A single-center, retrospective, population-based study was conducted of patients who underwent surgery for AOC from January 1, 2014-December 31, 2018.

Imaging ovarian cancer - from baseline characteristics to high-risk image factors.

Background: Imaging ovarian cancer (OC) includes evaluating peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) and enlarged cardio phrenic lymph nodes (CPLN) by computed tomography (CT), and thorough evaluation is tedious work. A "CT short score" with high-risk CT parameters might be a more pragmatic approach, but it is not known if such a short score associates with aggressive OC subtypes and impaired OC survival. Further, it is not known if certain established OC risk factors are linked to high-risk CT-findings which would be important in image evaluation.

An inflamed subtype of difficult-to-treat depression.

Background: Chronic low-grade inflammation may play a role in the pathophysiology of depression, at least in a subset of patients. High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) has been used to define an inflamed subgroup of depression with specific clinical characteristics and symptoms. In this study we investigated biochemical and clinical characteristics in patients with difficult-to-treat depression with and without chronic low-grade inflammation.

Introduction: Consistency and relevance of perinatal outcome measures are necessary basics for obstetric research, audit, and clinical counseling. Balancing power: Ambulance personnel's lived experience of older persons' participation in care in the presence of municipal care personnel.

Background: Patient participation is considered to promote well-being and is, therefore, central in care contexts. Care-dependent older persons living at home constitute a vulnerable population with increased ambulance care needs. Care transfers risk challenging participation in care, a challenge that can be accentuated in situations involving acute illness.

Spreading rates of bacterial colonies depend on substrate stiffness and permeability.

The ability of bacteria to colonize and grow on different surfaces is an essential process for biofilm development. Here, we report the use of synthetic hydrogels with tunable stiffness and porosity to assess physical effects of the substrate on biofilm development. Using time-lapse microscopy to track the growth of expanding colonies, we find that biofilm colony growth can increase with increasing substrate stiffness, unlike what is found on traditional agar substrates.

A topographic atlas defines developmental origins of cell heterogeneity in the human embryonic lung.

The lung contains numerous specialized cell types with distinct roles in tissue function and integrity. To clarify the origins and mechanisms generating cell heterogeneity, we created a comprehensive topographic atlas of early human lung development. Here we report 83 cell states and several spatially resolved developmental trajectories and predict cell interactions within defined tissue niches.

An integrative review of resilience among nursing students in the context of nursing education.

Aim: This integrative review aimed to examine empirical research on resilience among nursing students in the context of nursing education. Resilience helps nursing students handle challenges, such as changing learning styles and experiencing their first clinical practice.

Purpose: This qualitative study describes nurses' experiences and perceptions of how they develop the clinical gaze.

Methods: This qualitative study used an inductive approach and content analysis to assess the experiences of newly graduated nurses, nurse managers, and nursing teachers. Nineteen interviews were conducted.
