Background And Objective: To evaluate the economic impact in Spain derived from the introduction of the XEN®63 implant as a surgical alternative in the management of primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) with or without cataract in refractory patients.

Materials And Methods: A budget impact analysis was designed to estimate the costs of surgical treatment of POAG from the perspective of the Spanish National Health System (NHS), over a time horizon of 1 year. The comparators considered (trabeculectomy, deep non-penetrating sclerectomy, Ahmed valve, iStent inject, Preserflo® microshunt and XEN®45) correspond to those used in Spanish public clinical practice.

Purpose: To determine corneal topographic, anatomic, and biomechanical properties in patients newly diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).

Methods: This is a cross-sectional study including 25 patients recently diagnosed with severe OSAHS (apnea-hypopnea index above 30) and a paired control group of 25 healthy subjects. All patients underwent a complete eye examination with an elevation topography Pentacam Scheimpflug study and a study with Reichert Ocular Response Analyzer, collecting several topographic, anatomic, and biomechanical variables.

Background/aims: To assess the diagnostic performance of retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) data of optical coherence tomography (OCT) for detecting glaucoma.

Methods: Secondary analyses of a prospective, multicentre diagnostic study (Glaucoma Automated Tests Evaluation (GATE)) referred to hospital eye services in the UK were conducted. We included data from 899 of 966 participants referred to hospital eye services with suspected glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Case Report: Two clinical cases are presented of two family relatives newly diagnosed with Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) and G11778A mutation analysis by optical coherence tomography (Cirrus HD-OCT, Carl Zeiss Meditec, Dublin, California, USA) layer peripapillary fibers retina (RNFL) and ganglion cell and internal plexiform layers (GCL/IPL) using macular segmentation.

Discussion: The analysis of the macula by OCT segmentation (version 6.0 Cirrus OCT) allows the GCL/IPL to be evaluated without the interindividual variability of peripapillary RNFL distribution or the presence of edema of the optic disc.
