Introduction: Myocardial protection with cardioplegia is a crucial approach to mitigate myocardial damage during coronary bypass grafting surgery (CABG) with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). The major component of the del Nido cardioplegia solution, Plasma-Lyte A, is difficult to obtain in Iran due to high cost. The objective of the current study was to study if the lactated Ringer's solution as the base for del Nido solution (LR DN) usage is a viable option as a substitute for Plasma-Lyte A in adult patients presenting for CABG surgery.

Inactivated or recombinant protein vaccines are a reliable and safe method but mostly suffer from weak immunogenicity just in case formulated with a suitable adjuvant. The purpose of this research was to assess the impacts of new SpikoGen subunit vaccine administration during pregnancy on organogenesis in the rat fetus, which is a novel achievement in teratogenesis studies.

Probiotics, live microorganisms known for their health benefits, have emerged as a potential therapeutic intervention for these conditions. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to evaluate the strain-specific effects of probiotics on relieving depressive and anxiety symptoms while elucidating underlying mechanisms.

Improving minimally invasive treatment strategies, including internal fixation with screws, can result in favorable clinical outcomes and lesser incidence of complications, while preserving the hip. This study compared the outcomes of using non-cannulated cancellous screws (NCS) and cannulated cancellous screws (CS) in the internal fixation of undisplaced intracapsular femoral neck fractures (UIFNF) of osteoporotic patients of Iranian descent.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: To reduce the complications of orthopedic surgery, the desire for less invasive procedures, such as, knee arthroscopy to repair the anterior cruciate ligament, has increased. There are, currently, two common positions for limbs that are used during surgery depending on the surgeon's experience. Therefore, our aim was to investigate the effect of limb position on complications after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery.

Therefore, the use of smartphones and their special medical applications can play an important role in following up patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of smartphone in evaluating clinical outcomes and range of motion (ROM) of patients after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR).

In this study, antibiotic-resistant total heterotrophic bacteria (THB ) counts (CFU/ml) cultivated from influent, effluent of activated sludge process, and outflow of disinfection unit of an urban WRRF were investigated for the presence of 16, 32, 64, and 128 μg/ml of nine antibiotics. The isolates of Pseudomonas spp.

The current study was aimed to investigate the SMX degradation in secondary treated wastewater using potassium Ferrate [Fe(VI)]. The effects of various experimental conditions, EDTA and phosphate as chelating agents, and toxicity assessment were also considered.

Methods: This prospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 105 joints with clinical suspicion of infectious arthritis (based on Kocher criteria) admitted in Shohada Hospital, Tabriz, Iran, within 2017-2018. Patients were divided into two groups, including receiving antibiotics (n=29; group 1) and not receiving antibiotics (n=76; group 2).
Background: Radial neck fracture in children is rare. This study attempted to evaluate the outcome of surgically treated patients and any associated complications.
Methods: This study evaluated 23 children under 15 years of age with radial neck fracture who were treated with open reduction between 2006 and 2016 to determine their range of motion, postoperative complications, and radiographic outcomes.
Background: The purpose of this study was to determine the biomechanical changes after first dorsal compartment release and after Z-plasty of the first dorsal compartment with respect to the excursion and displacement of the abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis tendons.
Materials And Methods: Six fresh frozen cadaveric hand and forearms were obtained and the tendons of the abductor were exposed and separated from surrounding tissues through a palmar incision and tenotomized at the musculotendinous junction. The excursion and displacement of the abductor pollicis brevis and flexor pollicis brevis tendons were measured for all six cadaveric hands.

Chlorpyrifos (CPF), an organophosphate insecticide, due to its high efficiency and low cost is widely used in the agricultural industry. CPF may lead to lung deficiency, central nervous system damage, developmental and autoimmune disorders. In recent decades, the advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have been considered in water and wastewater treatment due to their high efficiency in decomposition of organic and inorganic compounds, specially hardly biodegradable or non-biodegradable compounds.

In this study, sediments of the estuary of 17 rivers, ending to the Caspian Sea, were evaluated at two depths (0-5 cm and 5-15 cm). Plastic particles were categorized into two groups in terms of size: small MPs and large MPs.
