Aim: Blunt traumatic thoracic aortic injury (BTAI) is a highly fatal surgical emergency and is treated with endovascular procedures. We aimed to analyze and report the early and midterm outcomes of surgeon-modified fenestrated stent-grafts (SMFSG) compared with other conventional endovascular methods in patients with BTAI repaired with zone 2 endovascular surgery.
Materials And Methods: Before and after the study was performed, from January 2015 to January 2020 for a period in which conventional endovascular treatments were used and from January 2020 to January 2023 for the second period in which the SMFSG technique was used.
Study Design: A prospective cohort study.
Objective: Detail typical three-dimensional segmental deformities and their rates of change that occur within developing adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) spines over multiple timepoints.
Summary Of Background Data: AIS is a potentially progressive deforming condition that occurs in three dimensions of the scoliotic spine during periods of growth.
Aim: Multisegmented aortic pathologies present challenging issues independent of the treatment chosen. Whether open or endovascular, staged, or simultaneous, every treatment modality has its own pros and cons. We revealed our patients retrospectively with early and midterm results who had simultaneous endovascular thoracic and abdominal aortic repair for thoracic aortic pathologies and infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm (iAAA) as a single-center experience.

Aim: To evaluate the outcomes and predictors of survival of endovascular treatment of AAA in the short- and medium-term.
Material And Methods: A total of 222 patients having endovascular AAA repair between January 2013 and December 2019 by the same surgical team were included in the study.
Background And Purpose: Cerebral adrenoleukodystrophy is a devastating neurological disorder caused by mutations in the gene. Our aim was to model and compare the growth of early cerebral lesions from longitudinal MRIs obtained in presymptomatic patients with progressive and arrested cerebral adrenoleukodystrophy using quantitative MR imaging-based lesion volumetry.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively quantified and modeled the longitudinal growth of early cerebral lesions from 174 MRIs obtained from 36 presymptomatic male patients with cerebral adrenoleukodystrophy.
Background: Clinical decision rules (CDRs) are commonly used to guide imaging decisions in cervical spine injury (CSI) assessment despite limited evidence for their use in paediatric populations. We set out to determine CSI incidence, imaging rates and the frequency of previously identified CSI risk factors, and thus assess the projected impact on imaging rates if CDRs were strictly applied as a rule in our population.
Methods: A single-centre prospective observational study on all aged under 16 years presenting for assessment of possible CSI to a tertiary paediatric emergency department over a year, commencing September 2015.
Introduction: The use of simulation to develop clinical reasoning and medical decision-making skills for common events is poorly established. Validated head trauma rules help identify children at low risk for clinically important traumatic brain injury and guide the need for neuroimaging. Methods: Between January 2012 and December 2017, 130 elective infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms treated in an endovascular manner were retrospectively evaluated. Sixty-six patients with the modular type (Medtronic Endurant II and Lifetech Ankura AAA) and 64 patients with the unibody type (Endologix AFX®) were compared with regards to early and postoperative one-year results.
Purpose: To review and compare the outcomes of prostatic artery embolization (PAE) with 3 other minimally invasive surgical treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia, including photoselective vaporization (PVP), prostatic urethral lift (PUL), and water vapor thermal therapy (WV).
Methods: A literature review was used to identify 35 publications, which included 2,653 patients (studies, patients): PVP (13, 949), PUL (9, 577), WV (3, 330), and PAE (10, 728). The international prostate symptom score (IPSS) and the international index of erectile function (IIEF-5) and quality of life (QOL) scores were recorded at baseline, 6 months, and 12 months.
Objective: Although extensive analyses evaluating screening mammography for breast cancer have been published, some utilized databases do not distinguish between modes of detection, which confounds the conclusions made about the impact of screening mammography.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study of women at our institution with pathologically-proven breast cancer from January 2015 to April 2018 was conducted. Subjects were categorized by their mode of diagnosis: screening or non-screening.
Introduction: Women are less likely to develop infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm; however, when they do, it is almost always associated with challenging anatomy, more rapid aneurysmal growth rate and earlier rupture. Women generally have poorer outcomes following open aneurysm repair; and in this respect, the present study aims to evaluate if it is so after endovascular repair.
