Objectives: To evaluate the pathological outcomes of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients who were unsuitable for general anesthesia and underwent regional anesthesia in terms of their suitability for oncological surgery.
Methods: A total of 53 patients who underwent mesocolicormesorectal surgery under regional anesthesia at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital, Ankara, Turkey, between May 2019 and May 2023 were retrospectively examined. The negative margins of the proximal, distal, and circumferential margins of specimens, as well as the number of lymph nodes removed, were analyzed.
Background: A pathological complete response (pCR) rate after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is important for the prognosis of early-stage breast cancer. The prediction of an NAC response plays a key role in managing neoadjuvant treatment.
Aims: The aim of this study is to investigate the predictive value of the baseline PETCT FDG (F-18 fluoro-deoxy-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography) SUVmax (the maximum standardized uptake value) for pCR after NAC in early-stage breast cancer.
Diamond Blackfan anemia (DBA) is caused by germline heterozygous loss-of-function pathogenic variants (PVs) in ribosomal protein (RP) genes, most commonly and . In addition to red cell aplasia, individuals with DBA are at increased risk of various cancers. Importantly, the mechanism(s) underlying cancer predisposition are poorly understood.

Supercooled preservation (SCP) is a technology that involves cooling a substance below its freezing point without initiating ice crystal formation. It is a promising alternative to prolong the preservation time of cells, tissues, engineered tissue products, and organs compared to the current practices of hypothermic storage. Two-dimensional (2D) engineered tissues are extensively used in research for drug screening and development and investigation of disease progression.

Although titanium is known for its excellent osseointegration, the application in FKRIs can lead to potential stress-shielding and metal implants can cause degeneration of the opposing articulating cartilage due to the high resulting contact stresses. Furthermore, metal implants do not allow for follow-up using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Objectives: This study investigated the effect of a stress management program on first-year nursing students' clinical stress levels.
Purpose: To assess the effect of a program designed to reduce nursing students' social distancing from individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Method: This experimental study was designed using a pretest, a posttest, and a control group. All participants were nursing students, of which 25 were included in the intervention group and 23 were placed in the control group.
The clinical success of osteochondral implants depends significantly on their surface properties. In vivo, an implant may roughen over time which can decrease its performance. The present study investigates whether changes in the surface texture of metal and two types of polycarbonate urethane (PCU) focal knee resurfacing implants (FKRIs) occurred after 6 and 12 months of in vivo articulation with native goat cartilage.

Aim: This study aims to describe nurses' views on what it is like to be a working mother in Turkey.
Background: Most mothers are in the workforce but continue to fulfil their traditional roles at home. This emerges as an important factor causing mothers to try to find a balance between work and home.

Development of biocompatible and multifunctional nanoprobes for tumor targeting, imaging, and therapy still remains a great challenge. Herein, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were synthesized in the cavity of horse spleen apoferritin protein (HoSAF) and protein surface was labeled with 2-amino-2-deoxy-glucose (2DG) as a cell surface glucose transport protein specific targeting probe to study the feasibility of its usage as a computer tomography (CT) contrast agent with tumor targeting capability through in vitro experiments. 2DG conjugated and gold-loaded apoferritin (Au-HoSAF-2DG) nanoparticles (NPs) showed selective targeting for human breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7) cells when compared to normal breast (MCF-10A) cells.

Later experimental and clinical evidence suggested that Src kinase plays a significant role in promoting tumor growth and progression and its activity is associated with poor patient survival. Thus, several Src inhibitors were developed and approved by FDA for treatment of cancer patients.

A strain gradient enhanced crystal plasticity framework is used in order to capture the deformation heterogeneity caused by lattice orientations and microstructural size effects. The investigation is focused on two different martensite distributions (banded and random) that are relevant for industrial applications.

This study was conducted to determine the effects of a psychoeducation programme for emotion identification and expression in those diagnosed with schizophrenia on their ability to identify and discriminate between emotions and social functionality. This quasi-experimental study (pretest-post-test, with control group) comprised an intervention (21) and a control (21) group conducted with individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Infertile women feel more psychological stress and pressure than their husbands, and the prevalence of anxiety and depression among them are higher. This study aimed to develop a culture-specific measurement tool to identify the strategies of infertile women in dealing with infertility-related problems. This was a scale development study.

Re-magnetoferritin nanoparticles (NPs) provide an attractive platform for localized radiation therapy due to their magnetic targeting capability while enhancing contrast in magnetic resonans imaging (MRI) signals. In this study, cellular uptake, in vitro cytotoxicity, apoptotic potential of a non-radioactive isotope of rhenium in the form of Re-magnetoferritin NPs were evaluated in both human normal mammary epithelial and breast metastatic adenocarcinoma cell lines. The results showed that, NP administration into the cells is through receptor mediated endocytosis and cancer cells displayed significantly higher uptake and cytotoxicity compared to normal cells.

The current research aims at investigating this gap using a lower-order gradient enhanced approach both using phenomenological continuum level as well as crystal plasticity models. In the phenomenological approach, a physically based hardening model relates the flow stress to the density of dislocations where it is assumed that the sources of immobile dislocations are both statistically stored (SSDs) as well as geometrically necessary dislocations (GNDs).

Materials & Methods: We synthesized a highly monodisperse nanoformulation using polyethylenimine-modified gold nanoparticles (AuNP-PEI) as siRNA delivery vehicle and evaluated gene downregulation.
Results: We found that AuNP-PEI/eEF-2K nanoformulation was highly effective for in vitro and in vivo gene downregulation and showed remarkable antitumor efficacy that was associated with eEF-2K knockdown, inhibition of Src and MAPK-ERK signaling pathways in a TNBC orthotopic tumor model.
Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) have been increasingly used for many years as MRI agents and for gene delivery and hyperthermia therapy, although there have been conflicting results on their safety. In this study, cobalt ferrite magnetic nanoparticles (CoFe-MNPs) were prepared by the co-precipitation method and their surfaces were modified with silica by the sol-gel method. The particle and hydrodynamic sizes, morphology and crystal structure of the bare and silica-coated CoFe-MNPs were evaluated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).

Introduction: A proper detection of atypical epithelial hyperplasia (component of FCC) without missing the coexistent malign disease is the main problem in evaluating the FCC-affected patients. For some patients, it is not enough to use only mammography and ultrasonography in pursuit or decision biopsy. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be important in these patients.
