They are associated with systemic diseases or local disorders and significantly impact the quality of life, often resisting conventional treatments, which can be costly and pose side effects. Ta'liq al-Alaq (leech therapy), a regimen in Ilaj-Bit-Tadbeer of Unani medicine, offers an alternative based on the principle of Istifrāgh (expulsion of morbid humours).
