Article Synopsis
- Soil ecosystems are complex and diverse, with this study using whole gene sequencing (WGS) to analyze microbial diversity and stress-response genes in soil samples from two distinct forests to gain more insights into their composition and function.
- The research findings showed that Proteobacteria were the most abundant microorganisms, comprising over 48% to 52% of microbial diversity, with significant differences in acidic stress-response genes related to soil pH levels.
- Taxonomic analysis indicated that both forests are dominated by bacteria, with Royal Belum showing 98% bacterial presence and Raja Musa having up to 98% as well, while Archaea and other life forms comprised only a small fraction of the total diversity.
