Background: High levels of LLT1 expression have been found in several cancers, where it interacts with CD161 on NK cells to facilitate tumor immune escape. Targeting LLT1 could potentially relieve this inhibitory signal and enhance anti-tumor responses mediated through NK cells. Using the 'The Cancer Genome Atlas' (TCGA) database, we investigated the role of LLT1 in the tumor microenvironment (TME) across various cancers.

While both proteins have also been implicated in death processes in plants, their interaction has not been explored. We have examined cell death following heterologous expression of a rice VDAC in the tobacco cell line BY2 and in leaves of tobacco plants and show that it is ameliorated by co-expression of hexokinase.

In this study, homologous of TOM1 and TOM3 genes were identified in pepper (Capsicum annuum) using specific primers. Their gene sequences have similarity to Nicotiana tabacum NtTOM1 and NtTOM3.

We have monitored aggregate territory size, spore allocation and fruiting body morphology in chimaeric groups of (quasi-wild-type) Ax2 and triA- cells. Developmental canalisation breaks down in chimaeras and leads to an increase in phenotypic variation.
