Article Synopsis
  • The study examines treatment patterns and healthcare usage for patients with MRSA complicated skin and soft tissue infections in the UAE, focusing on the potential for early-switch (from IV to oral antibiotics) and early-discharge considerations.
  • Data was collected from 24 patients, revealing that only 20.8% were switched to oral antibiotics during hospitalization, despite a substantial number meeting criteria for earlier switches and discharges.
  • The findings suggest significant opportunities for improving healthcare resource efficiency, as many patients could have potentially benefited from earlier transition to oral therapy and quicker discharge, reducing hospital stays and associated costs.
