Redox flow batteries (RFBs) employing nonaqueous electrolytes could potentially operate at much higher cell voltages, and therefore afford higher energy and power densities, than RFBs employing aqueous electrolytes. The development of such high-voltage nonaqueous RFBs requires anolytes that are electrochemically stable, especially in the presence of traces of oxygen and/or moisture. The inherent atmospheric reactivity of anolytes mandates judicious molecular design with high electron affinity and electrochemical stability.

A facile route to anchor pseudocapacitive materials on multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to realize high-performance electrode materials for asymmetric supercapacitors (ASCs) is reported. The anchoring process is developed after direct decomposition of metal-hexacyanoferrate complex on the CNT surface. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis reveals that the nanoparticles (NPs) are discretely attached over the CNT surface without forming a uniform layer, thus making most of the entire NP surface available for electrochemical reactions.

Sialate-O-acetylesterase was purified almost 900-fold from particle-free supernatants of horse liver by gel filtration, ion-exchange chromatography and isoelectric focussing. The native enzyme on gel filtration exhibits a molecular weight of 54,000 Da. It was separated by isoelectric focussing into two forms with pI values of 4.
