A Study of Clinical Significance of the Depth of Olfactory Fossa in Patients Undergoing Endoscopic Sinus Surgery.

The endoscope has revolutionized the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses. Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS), like all minimally invasive surgery, is designed to combine an excellent outcome with minimal patient discomfort. Successful outcome with minimal complications can only be achieved with good knowledge of the endoscopic anatomy, appropriate training in the procedure and the understanding of the anatomical variations.

A Study of Brainstem Auditory Evoked Responses in Normal Hearing Patients with Tinnitus.

Tinnitus is thought to be an auditory phenomenon resulting from spontaneous neuronal activity somewhere along the auditory pathway either in the peripheral or central auditory system. The neural abnormalities underlying tinnitus are largely unknown. This study analysis the auditory brainstem responses in normal hearing patients with tinnitus.

Audiological assessment in organophosphorus compound poisoning.

The aim of this prospective study design is to understand the audiological parameters in central and peripheral auditory pathway in organophosphorus compound (OPC) poisoning, within the setting of Tertiary care/Medical College Hospital we studied Distortion Product Oto Acoustic Emission (DPOAE) and brain evoked response audiometry (BERA) in 25 patients with OPC poisoning with respiratory failure and 75 patients without respiratory failure. The results showed that DPOAE was absent in 17 patients with respiratory failure and 51 patients without respiratory failure. BERA showed significant prolongation in wave I, wave III and wave V latencies in both the groups.

Upper alveolar ridge in edentulous patients and caldwell luc surgery.

The aim of this study is to understand the upper alveolar ridge changes and its impact on Caldwell Luc surgery, in a patient papulation from a Medical College Hospital. We undertook a study to measure the thickness of upper alveolar ridge in edentulous and edentulous patients, to know the difference between the two and its effects on Caldwell Luc surgery. The finding of the study led us to conclude that the upper alveolar ridge is quite thin in edentulous patients and requires care while scraping the unhealthy mucosa from the floor of the maxillary sinus in Caldwell Luc surgery.

Rheumatoid factor and hearing loss.

To find out the association between rheumatoid factor and hearing loss, a prospective study was conducted at Tertiary care/Medical college hospital. We screened 85 patients with positive rheumatoid factor for evidence of hearing loss. These patients were collected from the Departments of Medicine and Orthopedics.
