"Teledentistry" using a mobile app (Telesmile) to improve oral health among the visually impaired and hearing-impaired populations in Saudi Arabia: a randomized controlled study.

Objective: To assess the efficacy of a "teledentistry" method using a mobile app (Telesmile) in enhancing knowledge of oral health conditions and oral hygiene practices among the blind and deaf populations in Jazan Province in Saudi Arabia.

Methods: A randomized parallel design controlled study was conducted among 50 blind and 50 deaf subjects between the ages of 12-18 years, randomly chosen from blind and deaf schools. The participants were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria.

BACKGROUND There is little information available comparing eco-friendly products versus traditional plastic-based oral care implements. Therefore, this study was conducted to compare the plaque removal efficacy and bacterial contamination of biodegradable miswak (S. persica) toothbrushes with bamboo toothbrushes and conventional toothbrushes.

The association between asthma and periodontitis is of interest. 20 periodontitis patients with asthma (asthma group) and 20 patients without asthma (non-asthma group) were included based on inclusion and inclusion criteria. Bone allograft block using demineralized freeze-dried bone ring technique in Indian patients.

Our study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the bone ring technique for ridge augmentation using Demineralized Freeze - Dried Bone Allograft block in Siebert's class II/class III defects along with simultaneous implant placement. A total of 15 partially edentulous patients (16 surgical sites) with Siebert's class II and/or class III defects in the anterior region of both jaws requiring ridge augmentation along with implant placement were selected. Starting from the first stage, surgery (Ridge augmentation+ implant placement) was done in the first month.

Comparison of Digital Planimetry and Ruler Methods for the Measurement of Extraction Socket Wounds.

The purpose of the study was to evaluate and compare ruler and digital planimetry methods to measure extraction socket wounds. In total, 41 extraction socket wounds were selected for assessment of wound area by ruler and digital planimetry methods. In the simple ruler method, the periodontal probe was utilized to measure the length and breadth of the extraction wound, whereas in the digital planimetry technique, Pictzar software was used.

Evaluating Soft Tissue Healing after Implant Placement Using Two Different Mouthwashes (Myrrh and Chlorhexidine Gluconate): A Randomized Control Trial.

The use of mouthwash is often recommended by dental experts for dental healing. A double-blind, randomized clinical study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of two mouthwashes (myrrh and chlorhexidine gluconate) on postoperative pain and their effects on tissues after dental implant placement in 35 patients (18 in the myrrh group and 17 in the chlorhexidine gluconate group). Soft tissue healing was evaluated in terms of wound closure, soft tissue swelling, and the color of the gingiva at 1 week postoperative.

HA plays an important role in the mechanisms underlying inflammation and wound healing. Background An epidemiological survey was conducted among the geriatric population to determine the status and need for dental prosthetics and their influence on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). Methodology The study population consisted of 270 patients aged 60 or older. All pertinent demographic information, clinical data on prosthesis status and need, and the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP)-14 questions to assess OHRQoL were collected using a pretested structured questionnaire written in the patient's native tongue.

Use of Collagen Membrane in the Treatment of Periodontal Defects Distal to Mandibular Second Molars Following Surgical Removal of Impacted Mandibular Third Molars: A Comparative Clinical Study.

The study aims to assess the efficacy of using collagen membrane in the treatment of distal periodontal defects of mandibular second molars following the removal of mesioangularly or horizontally impacted mandibular third molars surgically. Forty sites in twenty patients with bilaterally impacted mandibular third molars (mesioangular or horizontal) were considered for the study. In 20 test sites (Group A), after surgical removal of the mandibular third molar, a resorbable collagen membrane barrier was placed on the distal aspect of the mandibular second molar to cover the post-surgical bone defect.

This study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of external metal filters on the image quality of computed tomography (CT) and single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/CT images. Images of Jaszack phantom filled with water and containing iodine contrast filled syringes were acquired using CT (120 kV, 2.5 mA) component of SPECT/CT system, ensuring fixation of filter on X-ray collimator.
