Application of an automatic, uncertainty model-guided, target-generating algorithm to lung stereotactic body radiotherapy.

Purpose: This work evaluated a new radiotherapy target-generating framework (the αTarget algorithm) for creating internal target volumes for lung SBRT.

Methods: Nineteen patients previously treated with definitive intent SBRT to the lung were identified from a clinical database. For each patient's 4DCT simulation scan, deformable image registration was used between phases of the scan in order to generate voxelized models of motion for 35 individual gross tumor volumes.

Social networks in health care teams: evidence from the United States.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to synthesize existing evidence regarding health care team networks, including their formation and association with outcomes in various health care settings. Design/methodology/approach Network theory informed this review. A literature search was conducted in major databases for studies that used social network analysis methods to study health care teams in the USA between 2000 and 2014.

A pencil rescues impaired performance on a visual discrimination task in patients with medial temporal lobe lesions.

We tested proposals that medial temporal lobe (MTL) structures support not just memory but certain kinds of visual perception as well. Patients with hippocampal lesions or larger MTL lesions attempted to identify the unique object among twin pairs of objects that had a high degree of feature overlap. Patients were markedly impaired under the more difficult task conditions.

Visual discrimination performance, memory, and medial temporal lobe function.

We evaluated recent proposals that structures in the medial temporal lobe (MTL)--in particular, perirhinal cortex--support not just memory but certain kinds of perceptual abilities as well. Specifically, it has been suggested that the perirhinal cortex supports the perceptual abilities needed to accomplish visual discrimination performance when the stimuli have complex features and overlapping elements. However, the tasks that have been studied are quite challenging.
