Ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complexes (RPCs) that emit from triplet metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) states find a wide variety of uses ranging from luminophores to potential anti-cancer or anti-bacterial therapeutics. Herein we describe a greener, microwave-assisted synthetic pathway for the preparation of homoleptic [Ru(N^N)] and bis-heteroleptic [Ru(N^N)(N'^N')] type complexes. This employs the bio-renewable solvent Cyrene™, dihydrolevoglucosenone, as a green alternative to ,'-dimethylformamide (DMF) in the synthesis of Ru(N^N)Cl intermediate complexes, obtaining comparable yields for N^N = 2,2'-bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline and methylated derivatives.

Mounting evidence that growth mindset-the belief that intelligence is not fixed and can be developed-improves educational outcomes has spurred additional interest in how to measure and promote it in other contexts. Most of this research, however, focuses on high-income countries, where the most common protocols for measuring and intervening on student mindsets rely on connected devices-often unavailable in low- and middle-income countries' schools. This paper develops a toolkit to measure student mindsets in resource-constrained settings, specifically in the context of Brazilian secondary public schools.

Information on tropical Asian vertebrates has traditionally been sparse, particularly when it comes to cryptic species inhabiting the dense forests of the region. Vertebrate populations are declining globally due to land-use change and hunting, the latter frequently referred as "defaunation." This is especially true in tropical Asia where there is extensive land-use change and high human densities.

Gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, eclampsia, and chronic hypertension (CHTN) are associated with adverse infant outcomes and disproportionately affect minoritized race/ethnicity groups. We evaluated the relationships between hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) and/or CHTN with infant mortality, preterm delivery (PTD), and small for gestational age (SGA) in a statewide cohort with a diverse racial/ethnic population. All live, singleton deliveries in South Carolina (2004-2016) to mothers aged 12-49 were evaluated for adverse outcomes: infant mortality, PTD (20 to less than <37 weeks) and SGA (<10th birthweight-for-gestational-age percentile).

Isolation of wildlife populations represents a key conservation challenge in the twenty-first century. This may necessitate consideration of translocations to ensure population viability. We investigated the potential population and genetic trajectory of a small, isolated tiger (Panthera tigris) population in Thailand's Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai forest complex across a range of scenarios.

This research examined the relationship between exemplar characteristics and concern for maternal health disparities. A two-wave 2 (familiarity) X 2 (vividness) between-subjects experiment tested the effects of exemplar familiarity and vividness on attitudes toward maternal health and maternal health disparities, perceptions of disparate risk, and policy support after exposure to a story about a mother who faced complications during childbirth and again three to five days later. The moderating role of political ideology was also examined.

Background: Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is characterized by the classic clinical triad of gait, cognitive, and urinary dysfunction, albeit incomplete in a relevant proportion of patients. The clinical findings and evolution of these symptoms have been variably defined in the literature.

Objectives: To evaluate how the phenomenology has been defined, assessed, and reported, we performed a critical review of the existing literature discussing the phenomenology of iNPH.

Motivational interviewing (MI) is a counseling approach that allows a provider to engage in a dialog with patients to evoke motivation for health behavior change or decision-making. MI is a relatively recent addition to the curricula of genetic counseling programs, and recent research has demonstrated its utility in genetic counseling practice. However, the perspectives of genetic counselors trained in MI have yet to be studied with the intent of illuminating how it is applied in practice or what should be emphasized in training.

Current genetic counseling practice has not been found to significantly increase risk communication between family members. A more diverse set of genetic counseling approaches may be needed. A genetic counseling intervention based on motivational interviewing principles and the extended parallel process model was utilized to increase cascade outcomes within families with familial hypercholesterolemia, a common, underdiagnosed, and treatable condition.

Agitation is a common complication of Alzheimer's dementia (Agit-AD) associated with substantial morbidity, high healthcare service utilization, and adverse emotional and physical impact on care partners. There are currently no FDA-approved pharmacological treatments for Agit-AD. We present the study design and baseline data for an ongoing multisite, three-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial of dronabinol (synthetic tetrahydrocannabinol [THC]), titrated to a dose of 10 mg daily, in 80 participants to examine the safety and efficacy of dronabinol as an adjunctive treatment for Agit-AD.

Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is an inherited condition resulting in increased risk of premature cardiovascular disease. This risk can be reduced with early diagnosis and treatment, but it can be challenging to identify individuals with FH. Cascade screening, the most efficient and cost-effective identification method, requires FH patients to communicate with their at-risk family and encourage them to pursue screening.

Influenza appeared in Queensland, Australia during Exercise Talisman Sabre (TS-19) in July 2019 with an early focus within the New Zealand Defence Force members arriving in Australia aboard HMNZS Canterbury. A total of 76 cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) were reported, of which 43 were confirmed by rapid diagnostic tests to be influenza A (n=32) and B (n=11). Australia's influenza season (starting in March, peaked in July 2019) exposed large numbers of military members to a virus for which they had been suboptimally immunized either because of low uptake of the Southern Hemisphere vaccine by Australians/New Zealanders who were not mandated to be immunized, or because U.
