The cementless anatomic Benoist Girard (ABG) II total hip arthroplasty: a minimum 8-year follow-up study.

We have evaluated 90 consecutive primary cementless ABG II total hip replacements. The bearings combined metal-on-polyethylene in 64 hips, and alumina-on-alumina in 26 hips. At the minimum 8-year follow-up, ten patients had died, seven had been lost to follow-up, two had undergone revision of either or both components, and 68 were still alive and had not been revised.

Sea lice (Copepoda, Caligidae) are the most widely distributed marine pathogens in the salmon industry in the last 30 years. Caligus rogercresseyi is the most important species affecting Chile's salmon industry. Vaccines against caligid copepods have the potential to be a cost-effective means of controlling the infestation and avoid many of the disadvantages of medicine treatments.

Measuring HIV felt stigma: a culturally adapted scale targeting PLWHA in Puerto Rico.

The objective of this study was to culturally adapt and validate a scale to measure HIV-related felt stigma in a group of People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Puerto Rico. The researchers conducted a two-phase cross-sectional study with 216 participants (60, first phase; 156, second phase). The first phase consisted of the cultural adaptation of the scale; the second evaluated its psychometric properties.

A remotely controlled model of spinal cord compression injury in mice: toward real-time analysis.

Object: To date, there has been no efficient therapeutic approach to spinal cord injuries (SCIs). Choosing policy instruments for controlling ozone depleting substances in a developing context: the case of Chile.

Chile ratified the Montreal Protocol in 1990 which sets out an agenda for the reduction and then elimination of ozone depleting substances (ODS); however, by 1998 the country had not yet defined a strategy to encourage greater compliance, so that in the same year the National Environmental Commission decided to examine the policy options available. This paper examines the process followed to develop this strategy. As a first step it was necessary to look at how far the implicit policy of "business as usual" could be stretched without jeopardizing Chile's compliance obligations.
