Autonomic neuropathy is associated with dysglycemia that is difficult to control. We investigated if transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) could improve glycemic levels. We randomized 145 individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D) ( = 70) or type 2 diabetes (T2D) ( = 75) and diabetic autonomic neuropathy (DAN) to self-administered treatment with active cervical tVNS ( = 68) or sham ( = 77) for 1 week (4 daily stimulations) and 8 weeks (2 daily stimulations), separated by a wash-out period of at least 2 weeks.

In a patient with permanent neonatal syndromic diabetes clinically similar to cases with ONECUT1 biallelic mutations, we identified a disease-causing deletion located upstream of ONECUT1. Through genetic, genomic, and functional studies, we identified a crucial regulatory region acting as an enhancer of ONECUT1 specifically during pancreatic development. This enhancer region contains a low-frequency variant showing a strong association with type 2 diabetes and other glycemic traits, thus extending the contribution of this region to common forms of diabetes.

Introducing metallic nanoparticles, such as Au, on a substrate as a surfactant or wetting inducer has been demonstrated as a simple but effective way to facilitate the formation of ultra-thin silver layers (UTSLs) during the subsequent Ag deposition. However, most studies have paid much attention to the applications of UTSLs assisted by metallic surfactants but neglected the underlying mechanisms of how the metallic surfactant affects the formation of UTSL. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and pathologies are often driven by changes in molecular signaling and communication, as well as in cellular and tissue components, particularly those involving the extracellular matrix (ECM), cytoskeleton, and immune response. The fine-wire vascular injury model is commonly used to study neointimal hyperplasia and vessel stiffening, but it is not typically considered a model for CVDs. In this paper, we hypothesize that vascular injury induces changes in gene expression, molecular communication, and biological processes similar to those observed in CVDs at both the transcriptome and protein levels.
