Fusobacterium necrophorum is a non-spore-forming gram-negative anaerobic bacillus that may be the causative agent of localized or severe systemic infections. Systemic infections due to F.necrophorum are known as Lemierre's syndrome, postanginal sepsis or necrobacillosis.
