Analysis of factors influencing target PASI responses and side effects of methotrexate monotherapy in plaque psoriasis: a multicenter study of 1521 patients.

Methotrexate (MTX) is commonly used as first-line systemic treatment agent in psoriasis. We aimed to evaluate the clinical characteristics and treatment responses of patients with psoriasis undergoing MTX monotherapy. Data from adult patients with plaque psoriasis who received MTX monotherapy for at least 3 months between April 2012 and April 2022 were retrospectively evaluated in 19 tertiary care centers.

The effect of COVID-19 on development of hair and nail disorders: a Turkish multicenter, controlled study.

Background: A broad spectrum of skin diseases, including hair and nails, can be directly or indirectly triggered by COVID-19. It is aimed to examine the type and frequency of hair and nail disorders after COVID-19 infection.

Methods: This is a multicenter study conducted on consecutive 2171 post-COVID-19 patients.

Cutaneous reactions after COVID-19 vaccination in Turkey: A multicenter study.

Objectives: In this study covering all of Turkey, we aimed to define cutaneous and systemic adverse reactions in our patient population after COVID-19 vaccination with the Sinovac/CoronaVac (inactivated SARS-CoV-2) and Pfizer/BioNTech (BNT162b2) vaccines.

Methods: This prospective, cross-sectional study included individuals presenting to the dermatology or emergency outpatient clinics of a total of 19 centers after having been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccines. Systemic, local injection site, and non-local cutaneous reactions after vaccination were identified, and their rates were determined.

Systemic comorbidities associated with rosacea: a multicentric retrospective observational study.

Background: Once considered a disorder limited to the skin, rosacea is now known to be associated with systemic disorders. The aim of this study was to determine what systemic comorbidities accompany rosacea and to determine the relationship between the type, severity, and duration of rosacea, and the presence of and type of systemic comorbidities.

Methods: This retrospective multicenter study was conducted by the Turkish Society of Dermatology Acne Study Group.

An evaluation of thiol/disulphide homeostasis in patients with psoriasis.

Introduction: The role of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of psoriasis has been investigated in previous studies with conflicting results. On the other hand, well-established treatments currently used in psoriasis exert their effects via a boost of oxidative stress. Recently, a strong positive association between psoriasis, metabolic syndrome and dyslipidemia has also been described showing the complex nature of the disease.

Dermoscopic Findings in Patients with Pigmented Purpuric Dermatoses.

Pigmented purpuric dermatoses (PPD) are a group of chronic and relapsing cutaneous disorders characterized by a distinct purpuric rash. The diagnosis is made with clinical and histopathological findings. Dermoscopy has rarely been used in the diagnosis of PPD.

Uncombable hair syndrome (UHS), also known as "spun glass hair syndrome," "pili trianguli et canaliculi," or "cheveux incoiffables" is a rare anomaly of the hair shaft that occurs in children and improves with age. UHS is characterized by dry, frizzy, spangly, and often fair hair that is resistant to being combed flat. Until now, both simplex and familial UHS-affected case subjects with autosomal-dominant as well as -recessive inheritance have been reported.

A case of pachyonychia congenita with unusual manifestations: an unusual type or a new syndrome?

A 30-year-old man presented with lesions on his oral mucosa and soles. There were no similar complaints in his family members. The dermatological examination revealed follicular hyperkeratosis on his trunk and upper extremities and flesh-colored, firm cystic lesions on his axillae.

Oxidative stress causes plasma protein modification.

We investigated the effect of oxidative systems on plasma proteins using Chloramine-T, a source of free radicals. Plasma specimens from 10 healthy volunteers were treated with 40 mmol/L Chloramine-T (1:1 v/v). Total protein and plasma carbonyl levels were evaluated spectrophotometrically.

Kinetics of autotrophic denitrification process and the impact of sulphur/limestone ratio on the process performance.

Kinetics of sulphur-limestone autotrophic denitrification process in batch assays and the impact of sulphur/limestone ratio on the process performance in long-term operated packed-bed bioreactors were evaluated. The specific nitrate and nitrite reduction rates increased almost linearly with the increasing initial nitrate and nitrite concentrations, respectively. The process performance was evaluated in three parallel packed-bed bioreactors filled with different sulphur/limestone ratios (1:1, 2:1 and 3:1, v/v).

Pentoxifylline use in dermatology.

Pentoxifylline is methylxanthine derivative which is used in microcirculatory disorders as a vasoactive drug. Novel immunomodulatory properties of pentoxifylline have been reported including the down regulation of tumour necrosis factor-α synthesis and other inflammatory cytokines. Studies have shown that pentoxifylline might be efficacious in a wide spectrum of skin diseases.

Increased RLS prevalence in children and adolescents with migraine: a case-control study.

Background: Previous studies have reported an increased frequency of restless legs syndrome (RLS) in adult migraine patients. Until now, the frequency of RLS in pediatric patients has not been investigated. We set out to assess the frequency of RLS in children and adolescents with migraine compared to headache-free controls.

Smoking, alcohol consumption and denture use in patients with oral mucosal lesions.

Background: Epidemiologic researches about oral mucosal lesions have been performed in different populations. But, in dermatology outpatients, oral mucosal lesions have not been investigated previously.

Subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL) is a rare form of cytotoxic T-cell lymphoma. The disease has a poor prognosis in patients with the complication of hemophagocytic syndrome, especially in those with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) positivity. A 20-year-old woman presented with multiple, itchy, purplish nodules and excoriations on both of her upper limbs.
