Introduction: The incidence of thyroid nodules in the general population is around 40%. The British Thyroid Association U-grading has high sensitivity for identifying the common thyroid cancer subtypes (papillary and follicular). However, ultrasound features of the rarer medullary thyroid cancer differ, with lower sensitivity for ultrasound detection.

Aims: Our primary aim was to establish the proportion of female orthopaedic consultants who perform arthroplasty via cases submitted to the National Joint Registry (NJR), which covers England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, and Guernsey. Secondary aims included comparing time since specialist registration, private practice participation, and number of hospitals worked in between male and female surgeons.

Methods: Publicly available data from the NJR was extracted on the types of arthroplasty performed by each surgeon, and the number of procedures of each type undertaken.

Introduction: Medical simulation has provided favorable outcomes in the improvement of clinical competence at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The recall of information demonstrably increases when it has been taught in environments similar to the workplace. This study aimed to evaluate the role of a one-day burn simulation session in improving students' knowledge of burn management and interest in plastic surgery as a specialty.
