The present study aims to demonstrate how biomodels can be used as teaching tools for surgical techniques and training in a medical residency service. A case series was carried out in our orthopedics and traumatology outpatient facility using three-dimensional (3D) printing for surgical planning to contribute to the surgical teaching and training of resident physicians. Methods: A series of 53 patients with less than 55 years of age were retrospectively evaluated. All patients had dislocated femoral neck fractures (Garden III or IV) and were treated with DHS.
Objective: To evaluate the mortality rate after one year and correlated preoperative factors, among patients with hip fractures.
Methods: We prospectively studied 202 out of a total of 376 patients with a diagnosis of hip fracture who were admitted to the Hospital Cristo Redentor, between October 2007 and March 2009. The database with the epidemiological analysis was set up during their hospitalization, and follow-up data were obtained preferentially by phone.
