[Cardiovascular effects of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids: position of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in Russian and international guidelines. Council of Experts].

This Expert Council focuses on the meta-analysis of studies on the risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients taking omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and of data on the omega-3 PUFA treatment in patients with cardiovascular and kidney diseases.The major statements of the Expert Council: the meta-analysis of AF risk in patients taking omega-3 PUFA showed an increased risk of this arrhythmia. However, it should be taken into account that the risk of complications was low, and there was no significant increase in the risk of AF when omega-3 PUFA was used at a dose of ≤1 g and a standard dose of the only omega-3 PUFA drug registered in the Russian Federation, considering all AF episodes in the ASCEND study.

[On preservation and improvement of occupational health of governmental employees].

The authors analyzed social and psychologic features and ecologic and ergonomic conditions of governmental employees activities. Relationships between risk factors of administrative activities and occupational health were considered. The authors designed a complex of requirements for personality traits, psychologic and psychophysiologic features and possibilities of governmental employees, that determines their fitness for these activities and their occupational success.

[Optimal reconstruction of destructed teeth by pin constructions].

327 patients with dentures supported by 318 pulpless teeth reinforced by pin constructions were under observation. Main types of complications after pin use were identified. By math simulation the system "covering construction-artificial stump-root pin-root of the tooth" was studied for teeth 11, 13, 15, 16, 41, 43, 45, 46 in two projections--vestibulo-oral and mesio-distal.

[A case of the successful treatment of the esophageal leukoplakia with rabeprazole].

This clinical endoscopic study is of interest because clinical and endoscopic remission of the disease with a torpid course was achieved in a patient with gastroesophageal reflux disease with a continuously recurrent course complicated with leukoplakia under the condition of regular combination of preparations of the base course PPIs (Pariet) + prokinetic agent (Motilium) + antacid (Magalphil), conduction of continuous treatment during 12 weeks and subsequent supporting therapy (Pariet, 20 mg) during 6 months in the weekend treatment mode, as well as adherence to recommendations for changing the lifestyle.

Adhesion of obligate and facultative anaerobic bacteria, favoring the development of oral inflammatory diseases, including the cariesogenic and periodontogenic bacteria and Candida albicans fungi, isolated from patients with periodontitis, to 13 basic materials used in removable denture making, was studied. The adhesion of all bacteria (Streptococcus sanguis, Prevotella melangogenica, Fusobacterium nucleatum, Corynebacterium xerosis) and fungi to hot polymerization basic materials was the maximum. The most perspective basic plastic for clinical use (preserving intact oral microbiocenosis and preventing stomatitis induced by denture wearing) are cold polymerization materials, such as Redont-03, Dentoplast Breden, Leocryl, and UHF polymerization materials Acron GC, AKR-MV, and Etakril-02.

[Interrelations of hyperplasia of gastric mucosa and helicobacter infection (based on data from a polyclinic center].

[Experience with the clinical use of a device for the UV-irradiation of circulating blood].

The article considers the indications and possibilities of using the device for flowing extracorporeal ultraviolet radiation of blood. The uniformity of the radiation of blood in the proposed device provides an annular gap of the quartz dish with the partition in the shape of a spiral. It makes it possible to expose a larger part of the blood content of an organism simultaneously making use of various perfused methods of its detoxication.

[Morphology of articular cartilage in osteoarthrosis].

A combined histological, histochemical, histoenzymochemical and morphometric study of 42 articular cartilage samples from patients with different degrees of osteoarthrosis (OA) was made. Ten cartilages without pathology taken at autopsy were used as controls. A characteristic feature in case of cartilage destruction by OA is a progressive loss of glycosaminoglycans (GAG) from the matrix with its defibrination and uzur formation.
